And the dumbest statement of 2006 award goes too...

This country of ours was built on the idea of capitalism and open markets. If you don't like that and/or if you'd prefer that our companies fall behind competition because they're somehow entitled to the customers, maybe you'd find yourself more comfortable in country like Cuba.

seriously, trying to support generally inferior products because of blind nationalism is corporate welfare at best and skates around being some kind of communism/socialism.

besides, depending on who you ask, chrysler isn't even really an american car company any more. Daimler-Chrysler's board is mostly german now, including their chairman.

Sometimes nationalism is misconstrue as simply being blind and idiotic. Here's what I think: I think domestics aren't nearly as bad as people would like you to believe. I think that plenty of people (Americans no less) are fiercely against their own automotive industry. It can be very frustrating (and you see it frequently on these forums) to see American badged cars simply dismissed because they're American. "Oh, yeah, that car has a cheap interior. Typical crappy American car."

For every communistic American out there talking about how Americans should be at least trying to buy American products, there seem to be a dozen blind loyalists out there who wouldn't step foot in a Ford/GM/Dodge dealership if they were having a "50% off with $0 down!" sale.

I got the the Charger R/T with Hemi for a rental last month when I was in Indy on a business trip. I think the car was beat up a bit from what I can feel when I took sharp turns. It would make knocking noises. Overall the Handling and Power was great, I was not inpress with the interior, it was just too plain like a member mention above. My friend calculated 0-60 took a bit over 6 secs. From 80-100mph, the car feels like a rollercoaster, gets your heart pumping.

American cars had their reputation and lost it, they don't deserve any extra sympathy.
