Sometimes its worth the sacrifices you'd make elsewhere to get something you REALLY love like that. How many miles do you typically drive in a week?

During the school semester, with work and such about 350/wk or so. It varies though. While I am in school though I spend more time driving then I do at home at my PC lol. Which is part of the reason I am looking, is because I am in the car so much and I am just kind of tired of my current one lol.

well if you liked the lancer, a slightly less powerful version, the Lancer Ralliart that's basically the direct competitor of thw WRX is coming out. It's more powerful than the GTS and is expected to be priced below $30k.

Edmunds really seem to like the Lancer GTS

Note that the Mazda 3/6 is due for an update by the end of this year. If you drive 350miles/week, you should also factor in MPG. Having something with power is fun once in a while, but your wallet suffers.

The lancer seem to be not very popular, so maybe you can pick one up for cheap. it's built on a solid chassis from what i've read so it should be relatively fun to drive.

Wow....350 a week....thats about as much as I drive in a month (assuming I make the 80 mile each way trip to see my parents at some point)...I'd REALLY go for the car you want (if it ends up being the 3, sweet, if you find something to like more, jump on it) because it seems like you're going to have a lot of time to think about how much you wished you had that 3 instead of going for something a little less expensive.

I have read that the updates to the 3 are going to be minor, but anybody happen to know what they will be?

Because I can easily wait until the updates (and would actually be better to do it that way, so I can get some more use out of my current vehicle). I would also have gotten the vehicle I am upside down on sold, so the only one left would be the one I owe about $1000 less then its worth (which would mean instead of adding $2000 to the car price, I could take money off the final price). I have a 2005, so it's not like I need a new car ASAP. I would just like to get a new one, as mine was a "its all I can afford right now" type thing (senior in HS and have had to pay for it all myself). Now that I actually have a non-minimum wage job I can get more into the car I wanted to buy previously :).

Okay now this is just strange to me.

I called my current insurance company, and asked for a quote on the Speed3, Lancer GTS, and VW GTi. I currently am paying about $120/mo on an 05 Dodge Neon SXT, so I expected a huge increase in my monthly premium. Well it came back with the GTi being $121/mo, the GTS being $108/mo, and the Speed3 $98/mo (granted those are all w/o my other lines included but my current car it is included in, even so its only another 8-10/mo for my other lines).

So by buying a new car I can 1: reduce car payments from over $400 to about $300, 2: would REDUCE my car insurance by almost $150/a half, and 3: get a car under warranty again.

The other option would be to wait until the update to the Speed3, and put some more money down on it. The updates are not anything that important to me though. hmmm

Even though I am agnostic the car god's are real and they did send me this sign :)

So tomorrow the gf and I are going out and test driving the Civic Si, Lancer GTS, Speed3, and maybe depending on time the Impreza WRX again. Just to make sure the Speed3 is the car I like the most :). Then if it is, I am going to sit down and hammer out some numbers. If its $300/mo or less I will have a new car soon :)
