Congrats on your new car.

I have a 2012 Jetta 2.0L Auto as a loaner right now, and damn it's slow! lol My friend has a 2.5 manual, and that's pretty nice. Never driven the TDI...

I can't believe VW brought that motor back from the grave. My wife had an older '98 beetle with that engine, and it was terrible. I can't imagine the 2.0 with an AT...

Mostly commuting 20 miles each way to work. Morning drive is empty suburban roads, car indicates 45-50 MPG. Afternoon drive is slightly congested suburban roads, more stop-and-go, A\C used more often, car indicates 35-40 MPG.

Thanks guys. I plan on driving it into the ground, which was also what I said about the Mazda. Too bad it needed tires, brakes, and body work. Just didn't make financial sense to fix it. It was more fun to drive though 🙁.

Tires = 600+100 install
Brakes + labor = 500~
Body work = 1,500

~2500 > 14,100?

Nice car, but fail logic.

Body work can vary wildly in cost depending on what needed to be done and the quality of the repair. $1500 worth of repair really equates to a minor dent or scratch at a reputable shop. Not saying it made financial sense to replace it, only pointing out some facts.

If fuel economy was your concern, why not just go Prius? Resale value, reliability, and fuel economy are fantastic on those. Of course, maybe you worry about styling/looks?

I didn't get a Prius because I don't want a Prius. Also, diesel fuel is cheaper than gas in my area. The Mazda had a pretty nasty dent in the door, plus another on the rocker panel that both needed paint. Not to mention that I've now got a car that's four years newer, nicer, bigger, less expensive to run and slightly cheaper to insure.
