My mother wants to get a new car but she can only afford $20,000. I told her good luck in that price range. She wants something really sporty. She likes Trans Am's/Camaro's but ofcourse they're out of production and her price range. what should she look at?

I dunno man, first you say sporty, like an fbody then you say 4 seats and autos.

Most coupes don't really have usable 2 rear seats.

Have her take a look/testdrive an accord coupe/sedan. Since it has to be auto, 5 speed auto fits the bill kind of nicely. Handling is good too.

I find it interesting that a thread looking for cars > $30k will get plenty of posts, but one looking for cars < $20k gets very few. Anyway, I agree with OS that you should look at Hondas. Make your mom learn how to drive a stick, she could save $1000 there.

Dude, last time I checked F-bodys have 4 seats and come in automatic. I've been in a camaro, trans am, and mustang and the backseats are fine for non-adults

I'd be afraid to take her out with a stick car. Last time was 5-6 years ago. She test drove one and accidentally put in in neutral and rolled down a hill and panicked. almost hit the car behind us. lol

Well there you go. A base GT is right under $20k or atleast they were last year.

Tell her to turn-in her high school for showing Gone With The Wind to public, and she might get a couple more grand $$$ I hear those V6 Pustangs do a good job on donut-ways.

Edit: Oh damn it, I feel bad for saying that stuff...

Why did you have to lie to a bunch of people on Internet?

For your mom, if she likes the styling, a Mini Cooper would be a good choice :) Those cars are sweet :)

I don't know about Mustang... especially cold/icy PA weather.. umm no.

Goodluck to your mom @ car search.
