Don't think I've posted any previous rides here. Had a '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I got for cheap. Nothing exciting.

Found this baby at a local dealer. They didn't even have it listed as a Comp G, nor did the salesman even know what a Comp G was or that this was one. lol

$12,100 for the car and they gave me $3,000 for the Jeep(which is what I paid for it a year ago. lol)

2005 Grand Prix GTP Comp G
48K Miles
Blue Green Crystal Metallic
Sunroof
HUD
Cloth interior. Actually perfect since it is going to be a family car.
100% Stock.

Car was a little rough as far as paint. Needed clay job BAD. And I bought a highspeed orbital and pads and went to town on her!

What's a Comp G? Sounds like something a bunch of inner city youths would say to each other. Yo yo yo, comp G unit!

Congrats OP.

I really like the GTP's for their sleeper status and the fact that it doubles as a family hauler. My brother had a '98. They have torque-steer like crazy but are very moddable and are relatively cheap performance.

Thanks yeah. I've been doing a lot of reading and should be able to put this car in the 13's in the 1/4 fairly easy and safely.

I doubt I'll ever really put the car in a situation where torque steer will be a problem. If I'm racing someone I know how to launch a FWD car without much or sometimes any wheelspin. It's also the family car too. So, it's not going to be driven hard that much. lol. Still have to convince the wife to let me do a pulley swap and other mods. haha.

Don't forget to check the supercharger oil. Most don;t even know it has its own oil and never check/replace it.

If it is not low and does not look bad run it till 60k then change. If very low or looks bad suck out as much as you can and then top off. Get the fluid from a GM dealer. Call around as any dealer can get it and many mark it up way to much.

And replace the PCV valve, maybe fuel filter. Many overlook those as well.

EDIT:
Here is the part number for the oil 12345982
Can be had online for less than $10 a bottle.

Yep!

Yeah I know about the oil. She's about due for her first oil change. Probably do that and the supercharger oil. Fuel filter and PCV. As well as a tire rotation and balance. Battery died when I test drove it so the dealer put a brand new battery in it. The Alternator died too, but was replaced under warranty. So that's 2 new things lol. Thinking of switching to Sythetic Oil. And some have suggested I swap from Dexcool to the green stuff. But, I have a '98 Seville STS with dexcool and never had a problem with it. So not sure on that yet.

You can drain the coolant out and use any long life coolant. I use the store brand and have not had any issues and still get the 60k+ with it.

And any name brand syn (5w30 or 10w30) will work fine. I am running quaker state syn right now in my CTS and Corvette as Wally world had it the cheapest name brand right now. And of course don;t use fram. :)

Looks to be in pretty good shape. Nice motor should be pumping out around 220HP or so in stock form.

Yep ... should be 260HP / 280 Ft-Lbs for Gen III 3800 Supercharged
I was thinking of the old spec for Gen II motor in 1999 models

Yeah the Gen III is pretty sweet. Very responsive even to the conservative 3.4" pulley swap. More supporting mods needed, but very fun. lol. Even in stock form, like mine still is, it's pretty nice. Very nice throttle response and snappy revs. I used to have a '98 STS with the Northstar. Off the line this Pontiac is a little quicker. Unfortunately, at highway speeds acceleration isn't as impressive as the older, heavier, Northstar was though.
