Where and how? I'm looking into buying the s230 or a70. I like the smaller size of the s230 though.

I would stay with the A70. Better optics, newer processor, less gimicky. This is a real camera.

I am sure this is the next killer camera from Canon. I owned A40 for a couple of months, and it was terrific. Simple and awesome !

2 completely different cameras with different strengths and weaknesses.

A70 = manual controls, and the ability to use add on lenses, aa batteries, longer battery life

S230 = point and shoot which is not as versatile, good movie mode, solid metal body and very portable

i dont know too much about the specifics of the a70, but seems like a premium to pay 30 more dollars for a 2.1mp camera vs. a 3.2mp. seems like prices on digicams are largely dependent on its megapixel capacity.

and the s230 shows up once in a while on the dell website. keep an eye on bensbargains...it comes up there often. recently (maybe a week or two ago) saw it up for 319.

An alternative is to get it from dell, it's 360$ shipped for the camera and 256mb of sandisk memory minus a 20 dollar rebate. Dies thursday.

Same here. Got an A70 and a 128MB Card for $315.06 shipped. The camera was like $350 and the memory card like $40 or something. It was 10% off the camera, 20% off the memory, and then an additional 35/350 coupon. So, the camera came out to $282.70 and the memory card $32.36. HOT DEAL!!!

Yeah, come on Rossman. Chime in on this. Whatcha know about the A70? Specifically, how does it compare to the A40? Are there any new features or is it strictly a matter of that extra megapixel?

Shh I'm lurking but yes I will definitely buy the Canon A70 as it replaces the famous A40, is better and is 3MP :)

However I'm waiting for OfficeMax.com to carry the A70 so I can use a $50 off $250 coupon and get it for $200-$250 which means I'll have to wait a little while.

Yeah come to think of it I think the A70 has a 640x480 video (30 secs), a nice upgrade from the A40.

And quite a while it will be. The A70 retails for $350. It may be a 8 months before you can get it for $250 AC.
