Can't go wrong with top of the line stuff. It all looks good. If going for high OC, I'd get a Scythe Infinity/Ninja, Zalman 9500/9700 or the Tuniq tower if you can find it.

I think that build looks great. Top quality parts that all get great reviews. I'm building a very similar system as we speak. I went with the Zalman 9700, but the ACF7 is good too. I assume you are going to OC?

i plan on OCing a lil bit- i just was reading on the evga fourms, and i might back down to one of the asus boards, instead of going 680i. is this a bad choice? also- i picked the acf7 because of the ability to mount w/o messing w/ backplate, which i hear the evga is a pain because of resistors on the back of the board.

Change the case to the Lian Li PC-7B.

Change the PSU a Seasonic or Enhance.

Change the HS/F to Thermalright or Zalman.

I think the 680I is to new to use. I've been hearing about issues with all of the brands using this chipset. I'd stick with the p5w-dh deluxe or the p5b deluxe.

thats what i was thinking about doing. in what areas does the intel chipset lag behind the 680i? OCing ?

You can't get the fsb as high with the p5w. That shouldn't be an issue though unless you're going for an extreme overclock. For air cooling the 975 will be fine. For phase change or high end water you may want a different board.

What issues are the evga boards having? I have the Asus 680i board - no problems here, but would like to compare with what the evga people are saying ...

Sound issues, ram killed by board, cmos reset problems, and sata issues. These boards seem very problematic to me. I've always used Intel chipsets because they seem to have fewer issues than other brands. I'll probably always use Intel unless I get a AMD cpu in the future.
