You dont need a full tower unless you are using like 4+ HD's
Get an i7 unless your budget wont allow
dont use xp, get vista 64 if you want to use all 4 gb. ( or get windows 7 and then reformat later)
260 is kay but the 4890 is better
you dont need a sound card.

Get a new keyboard with a fresh caps lock key. Why are you spending money now on a game that will not even be out this year? Don't you know how fast things change? I would wait.

well that cpu is prob one of the best 2 core for gaming. However, in the future I can almost garentee they will create games that will need more than 2 cores. Not to mention the i7 is going to be a good platform to use for the next few years. The core 2 duo's won't be aroudn much longer once the i5 and i3 hit the shelves. But like the above poster said..why are you even asking us? Seems liek you already have most of the stuff. Return it if you can because its a serios waste of money. If you took it out of the box already than I guess the other thing left for you to get is a gpu. Depending on your res. the 260 shoudl be okay unless your on a 19x12 then def. get the 4890. If you can return the items, than either wait until the i7 becomes for affordable, or since you are on a $1000 budget ( the i7 might take you over this) than get the x3 from AMD. If all you do is game than this will last you a while and you will still be able to upgrade later since its socket AM3.

the core2 duo will perform, it is just not a forward-looking decision. you could still drop in a dx11 GPU a year from now and play all the BF3 you want. but you will have a CPU from 2007. i7 is a more forward looking decision, but cannot be justified from a cost-benefit standpoint given your budget and the goals for this build. I would start with a fresh AM3 system. That is the newest platform and should last about as long as AM2 has lasted.

Agreed. Return your stuff or sell it and get back your money. Get an X3 with a AM3 mobo and some ddr3 with a good gpu of your choice. That will last you a while and you will be very pleased. As for the case, All you need..if you like an antec is the 300. Unless you are going to Oc ( which I doubt b/c your're an uber noob) then you can get the 900 because it will give you more airflow. When its all said and done, a great AM3 system shouldnt even go over $800 bucks, excluding monitor, keyboard, etc.

Can you try returning it or exchanging it? You'll probably take a hit on ebay.

Why buy a Crossfire motherboard with an Nvidia gpu? Either drop down to the non-Crossfire Gigabyte mobo or change your gpu to a 4870/4890.

Don't feel like you have to return your stuff. That cpu is ok, it's just that you have all the trimmings for a high end machine... big full tower case, big psu... but then you chose a cpu that is really more a value choice.

If you got it from the egg just call/IM customer service, and they'll work something out with you.
