The 940BE is $25 more expensive and a good deal faster. Upgrade.
DDR3 board and memory cost a lot more money while providing little benefit in games.
However, if you want to run your 4870x2 in quadfire than stick with what you have.

Whats your budget and what resolution do you want to play at? What do you do with you computer? That will help us a bit more with your build.

DDR3 rated at 1.9v?!?!?!?
No matter how cool the name sounds, I wouldn't use that stuff in my build.

Seagate 500GB HDs are so played out.
Treat yourself to some 640GB WD "Black's", or at least a pair of 640GB "Blue".

A 4870 X2/2GB... For what resolution?

Right now I'm running on a 28' 1920x1200. I'm going to use it for gaming, running some virtual machines, media, streaming etc. My budget is prob around 1200 ish. The reason i got the 810 is because the 940 wont fit in a am3 board will it? If it will I would be all over it. Since im upgrading i wanted to get the latest as far as tech goes (AM3, DDR3). I went ahead and got a 1TB hd at best buy since they had a deal on it at my local best buy.

I think you'll need more video cards for a 28' screen ;)

Dunno, read through Anandtechs reviews and previews on the Phenom II chips, its bound to be in there somewhere.

Ahh k, was just asking cause you said "The AM3 boards are backwards compatible with AM2+ chips. " and thought that would be sweet but looked and the am2+ have 240 pins where as the AM3 has 238. thanks for all the suggestions!!

To clarify, you can use an AM3 CPU in an AM2+ motherboard (as long as it's on the compatibility list), but you can't use an AM2+ CPU in an AM3 motherboard.

Therefore, current AM3 motherboards have the advantage of supporting DDR3 but they cannot use all of AMD's new CPUs. On the other hand, new AM2+ motherboards will work with all of AMD's current CPUs but they use DDR2 instead.

Personally, I'd rather have an X4 940 with DDR2 than an X4 810 with DDR3.
