I am currently looking to build a new system for gaming, I do not overclock and am looking to keep the costs in the $900-$1000 dollar range. Here is what I have lined up:

CPU ($199): Amd X2 4200+: http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16819103747
MOBO ($144): Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe: http://www.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813131013
Video Card: ($289 After Rebate): Connect3d x1900xt 512mb-OEM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814142063
RAM ($104): Corsair XMS2 1gb DDR2 800 (2x512mb): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820145566
PSU ($99): Hiper HPU-4B580 580W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817128001
Case ($129): Antec P180b: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16811129017
Total: 1,034.96 ($934.96 AR)

Any suggestions on revisions to help cut some of the price or too improve performance would be helpful thanks.

Will 400W PSU be enough? The PSU calculator in your sig suggests higher. Also, i have old ide hard drives for the build if that makes a difference.

I would not go with a hiper psu if I were you. Consider a lower priced offering from enhance such as the 5140gh. Also: you selected an SLi board but an ATi card... this will work so long as you are not planning on dual gfx cards, which leads me to a question: what kind of monitor do you want/have? You're going to need a hard drive too. I'd suggest a seagate 7200.9 or a new 7200.10 if you can manage it.

PS my changes are in bold

I already have optical drives, i have a 160gb Seagate IDE Hard drive lying around and my monitor is a 17" CRT (looking to upgrade in future). I am still not sure though that with the x1900xt and a 4200+ that 400w would be sufficient.

It's not really wattage that matters...

Ok so I realize now that the 400W fortron is enough, but i cannot find the specific model anywhere anyone have a link to where i can purchase a Fortron FSP400-60GLN? That would leave me with just the case issue to resolve thanks.

Does the M2N-E have enough IDE connections to support my 2 optical drives and my Hard drive? Also suggestions on a case would be nice too. Thanks for the PSU link and help.

no it only has room for 1 ide optical device... the only one that can support 3 ide devices is a gigabyte mATX board... not sure which model.

Been doin some research on the M2N-E and appears many people are having issues with it, I am debating restarting with possibly a conroe build. My main concern is to keep the build around the 1000 dollar range, preferably under.

Quick question... what's the point of getting an SLI motherboard if you're buying an ATI video card? You might as well just get a single PCIe x16 slot mobo.

go with 3800+ instead of 4200+, 2gig instead of 1gig and stick to seasonic 500w psu.

why pay extra for power you're not going to use? He's not overclocking and could use a good 400w psu. The fortron howard linked is vvery good.
