Hi All,

This is my first post in this forum . Planning on building a computer. The one I have now is built by me from an ole P3 server board with 2 450 processors 512 megs of ram. Gets the job done but just want to upgrade. Thinking of keeping the case and the new kingwin 450 power supply along with the cd rw. Not looking for cutting edge at all but would like to use AMD 64 this time around with at least 512 ram and I guess serial ata . Will not be using this from games but like my tunes and photography. I looked at chaintech but when I went to the AMD site and used their engine for recommendations only one chaintech motherboard came up and it was for an older socket. Was thinking of using the 939 (i think thats it ) .

I am looking for a motherboard, processor, ram and hardrive.

I am now leaning towards an ASUS board that has the 939 socket.

Any input good or bad will be considered.

Keep 2 up

If you don't game much, the S754 is better than the S939. S754 runs at a higher clock speed than its S939 counterpart which really help in non gaming applications.
What is your budget, and how long do you plan to to go before upgrading again?

Hi Chinoman,

Using my existing case and power supply I was hoping to spend around 400 bucks.

Thanks Ike !

Will ck it out....really appreciate you going to the trouble. I have been looking at alot of sites and after awhile esp with the motherboards its easy to get caught up and get way over budget ...at least for me it is.

Thanks again buddy

Ike's suggestions seem to be right on the mark as far as what I am looking for.
