I just built my first system (yay...lol). Here's the specs.

AMD X2 3800
Asus A8N SLI Premium
XFX PVT70GUDF7 Geforce 7800GT
2x CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model VS1GB400C3 - Retail
SEASONIC|S12-500 PSU
THERMALTAKE Tusnamai VA3000BWA case
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB
NEC Black IDE DVD Burner Model ND-3550A -
ASUS Black IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E616A BLACK

Everything went together just fine and things are running well (as far as I can tell..lol). My question is, should I update the A8N motherboard BIOS? It's currently at 1107.
I haven't tried overclocking yet as I'm pretty dang new to all this, but would like to overclock it just a bit (it's on stock cooling). Any suggestions or tips? Thanks for the help!

My answer is NO at this time. If it works, don't think about it. You will have trouble anyways.

Good luck and have fun

I gained some extra stability during overclocking after moving to the 1011.001 bios :)

Just use the AsusUpdate utility (their windows based BIOS updater). Takes 30 seconds tops.

Besides, you wouldn't use two year old video card drivers, why use an old BIOS?

Look at it this way.

If you use Asus's Windows based utility, even if something goes wrong, you can always just undo it. :)

Yes, you can go back to an earlier BIOS. There's a setting in the ASUSFlash program to do this - under Options (which isn't exactly easy to get too).
