New Build - Western Digital WD2500YS sata drives

Just booted up a new build with 2 each Western Digital WD2500YS 250gb drives. After initiating the Windows install, I partitioned the first drive with a C: partition size of 50gb and a D: partition size of 150gb, leaving 50 gb unpartitioned. I then told it to do a NTFS quick format. After a minute or so, I got a warning that the drives weren't formatted and the windows installer then began a full NTFS format. The format of C: started off OK but now seems to hung at 7% (for about 30 minutes now...).

What action should I take?

Something's wrong. It took over 2 hours to do an NTFS format of my 500GB UATA 133 WD hard-drive. The bigger the drive the longer it takes. Now, if you do a quick format it takes like 5 seconds. You'll want to do a regular (slow) format on a drive that's never been formatted in NTFS. Try again (regular slow) and report back to us pronto!🙂

Turns out I received a bad drive. After several formatting attempts, I finally went to the Western Digital website and downloaded / installed their drive diagnostic software. It reported back that the drive has several bad blocks. RMAing it back to NewEgg.
