new build turns on for a sec, then turns off

so i am building a new comp. the only thing i am missing is a video card.

i have:

mobo: asus p5k-e wifi/ap
cpu: c2q 2.6ghz q6600
psu: 500w coolermaster
hdd: seagate 320gig sata 3.0
ram: ocz 2x2gig ddr2 800

i don't have the vid card installed yet, but i tried to power it on. i believe all the power form the psu is hooked up right on the mobo.

when i press power on the case, all the lights and fans come on for about half a second and then turn off. any ideas?
