Greetings. Looking for a build to replace my old Shuttle sn41g2v2. Yes, I've been out of the loop for years. I just had enough with this system. I will share some background concerning this build.

I'm interested in building a solid home office pc. I'm more interested in stability. I do run a trading platform that bogs down my Shuttle system to a crawl. The program mainly consists of number crunching. I don't have any interest in gaming, overclocking or video editing. I am comfortable with new builds just not totally up to date with all the fine details of the latest from Intel (would prefer be Intel based btw). So basically, web browsing, light photo editing. I already have a new 23" widescreen monitor I will be using.

After reading for hours of reviews, videos etc.. I came around this site from a Google link. So here I am :D. I will be purchasing everything from Newegg, in fact their warehouses on the east coast are only a few towns over. I've received components in less than 24 hours from them, placed about 20 orders so, all positive experiences. So will be going this route.

My main concern is that I'm not making any rookie errors, part compatibility etc.. Here is a list of what I am considering with some thoughts.

Cool Master Case. Read lots of reviews, seems these are well like. Looks pretty basic, which is up my alley. Lots of room for expansion, three fans included.

Asus P7P55D-E Pro
Good experiences with Asus in the past. I think I'm overdoing it, but seems very stable.

Intel i5-760 2.8GHz LGA 1156
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115067
Decided 1156 is more than adequate for my situation.
Haven't picked out a cpu fan yet, actually forgot. :D

Cool master silent pro m600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171036
Probably could get away with smaller ps, but would rather not cut corners here.

Corsair xms 8 GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145324
Stayed with name brand memory although not interested in their performance gaming etc.. memory. Using 2 sticks would allow to upgrade the mb down the road if needed.

Asus black optical drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204
plain and simple sata drive. Lots of people seem to agree.

Western Digital Black 1TB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136284
Good experiences with many WD drives over the years, black seems to have longer warranty.

I will be running Windows 7. Also, need a video card. I have no clue, but believe I only need a very basic Radeon or similar. I am looking forward to hearing you guys. I know alot of this may be overdone, but I would rather have something with room to expand if needed in the years to come. Hope I'm not missing anything. Thanks.

I would go with A sandy bridge Socket 1155 build and get an i5-2500k
I would also go with the HAF 912 or 922 case
I would get this RAM instead.
That PSU is WAYYYY over priced! this is better.
Get the SAMSUNG F3 1TB drive it is cheaper and performs the same.

That is my suggestion for now

Thanks. Yes, I had a feeling I overpriced some items. Will be looking at these.
As far as the 1155 Sockets, I see vendors are receiving the new boards. Newegg only has the high end Asus (out of stock).

So would waiting for additional boards to arrive, be worthwhile? I'm assuming cost would be similar, how about performance? Thanks,

Oh and because you will only be doing some basic web stuff and no real GPU stuff i recommend going with an H67 motherboard and the i5-2500k the integrated graphics are more then enough with what you will be doing and will allow HD video playback low end gaming and web browsing.

Eww integrated graphics....OP get a dedicated card and if you go LGA 1155 get a P67 please.

A 5770 or GTX 460 786mb will be perfect for you.

You are saying a 5770 or a GTX 460 is perfect for web browsing? are you high? That is $100 waste... did you even READ the sandy bridge review on Anandtech? It clearly states the IGP on Sandy Bridge is even suitable for HTPC work He isnt even doing HTPC stuff he is doing less.

What if he decides to play some games in the future? He'll be screwed unless he wants to play on crappy settings.

Yes mnewsham very good suggestion concerning the integrated graphics. This will cut my costs even more.

Concerning the Biostar you posted, is that part of the recall ?

Then he can buy a card down the line, Getting H67 doesnt limit him to ONLY integrated graphics he said he ISNT over clocking so P67 is useless, IF he wants to game later then he can just throw in a card THEN not now when he doesnt have ANY plans on gaming.

Guys, thanks for the help. I will be updating my list tomorrow. Yes, the integrated graphics will be fine. My old system now uses integrated graphics which works for me.

Thanks mnewsham. I'm starting to get the build 'urge' again. Looking forward to this build. Just looked at my Newegg order history. This will be my 28th order.

HAF 912/922 or 690-II Advanced. Any of those are nice.
Other cases worth considering include the Antec 300 (The Illusion version is currently cheaper than the original) and Fractal Design R3.

Even 500W for a PSU is overkill for a computer without a discrete graphics card.
Consider the Corsair CX430 - $43 (23 AR) instead.

What if he decides to play some games in the future? He'll be screwed unless he wants to play on crappy settings.
Not everyone who asks for build advice here are gamers.

I used to say "EWWWWW!!!" to IGPs as well, but ever since I got my current rig with the HD4200 IGP, it surprised me how well it could handle light gaming duties.

Just update my build with everyones input. Noticed on Newegg's list today, they have some Sandy Bridge msi boards (werent listed yesterday), although they are sold out. I may hold out a few more days but very close to pulling the trigger on this. :D

There is an MSI H67 in stock as of now (who knows how long it will stay that way. I agree with mnewsham that you don't need any sort of dedicate GPU.

Mfenn interesting you mentioned this. I was just comparing these about an hour ago on Newegg. They are very similar. The biostar has two more memory slots, which isn't a big deal to me.

I was also looking at the Fractal site. The r3 looks like a great case as do the others you guys mentioned. I've set the build up on my Newegg wish list which is sweet. Going to probably hold off until end of week at the latest, to review some more cases. Hopefully, this stuff is all sitting at the Newegg warehouse a few towns over, lol... Anyway, had 28 Newegg orders so far, shipping is always fast anyway. :D

MSI generally has a better reputation than Biostar, but I'd go with whichever strikes your fancy. Gigabyte also has a full ATX H67 board available on Newegg now.

Technically, the onboard video is actually packaged in the CPU itself. However, you still need a motherboard with the H67 chipset to use the "onboard" video.

Anyways, to answer your question, yes the MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) will let you use the onboard video.
