New build reading IDE drives as SCSI

this is causing my burners not to be able to burn anything

i dual boot vista and xp. xp is the problem since it's fine in vista


any setting in bios? my mobo is the intel DP35DPM

Why is this hurting your burner? Should be able to burn fine thinking it's SCSI.

i dunno but my vista instal detects them as ata and they burn just fine this is the only difference i can think of

the newest chipset drivers fail as well any ideas?

In XP you have to activate it. Go to Computer Properties and activate your DVD-RW.

The IDE ports on this board are provided by a third-party chip like JMicron or Marvell. Look for any BIOS options relevant to this controller and change the mode to IDE, legacy, or compatibility, if available.
