ASUS A7V600-X MB
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (FSB 333MHz)
512MB PC3200 Mushkin

I have tried three different PowerSupplies. Every time the computer will power on for about 2 seconds then shut off. Could it be I'm using PC3200? I don't have any PC2700 to test with. Motherboard is brand new, CPU works in another computer. Any suggestions?

Check the third & fourth photos on this page for one possible issue. If the heatsink had a thermal patch, you might've forgotten to remove the plastic coverslip from it too, I did that once.

Also, if the heatsink did have a thermal patch, and it did its melt-to-fit trick once, and then you removed the heatsink (which it sounds like you did, to test the CPU in a different computer), then you should use high-quality thermal grease in place of the used-up patch now.

Yea...common mistake when you think about the big things and forgo the small details.

Im guessing you put the heatsink the wrong way.
