Hi everyone, I've been reading the forums for information about a new computer, and I wanted to get feedback about the parts I selected.

This computer will be used primarily for gaming (wow,bf2), dvd burning, movie editing, multitasking. I plan to keep all the settings stock until I read up about overclocking.

Motherboard: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI ($149.00 )

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ ($374.00)

Cooling: Thermaltake VENUS 12 80mm Ball Cooling Fan/Heatsink ($36.99)

Memory: OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Platinum System Memory ($266.39)

Video: eVGA 256-P2-N376-AX Geforce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 ($299.99)

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3250823AS 250GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 ($111.00)

Floppy: SAMSUNG Black 1.44MB 3.5" ($7.99)

Case: Antec LifeStyle SONATA II Piano Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 450Watt SmartPower 2.0 ATX 12V V2.0 for AMD & Intel systems Power Supply ($109.00)

Total: $1346.37

I will be adding the following that I already have from a previous computer:

1.) 250GB WD
2.) NEC CD/DVD Burner
3.) Toshiba DVD Drive
4.) Dell 17' Flat Panel

Will this PSU be sufficient for me? Are there any other suggestions before I pull the trigger?

looks pretty decent.. Not too sure of Antec power supply, would have preferred Fortron/Seasonic....but Antec is decent enough I reckon.

I would opt for 2x1GB Corsair VS, and don't even THINK about getting a Western Digital hard drive.

huh?

Western Digital makes some of the best hard drives today. Why do you make such ignorant posts?

WD makes solid drives; I've heard more Maxtor horror stories than anything else.

Seagate is better. That's all I meant. :)

ok. :D That statement is a bit more reasonable. Although I would put Western Digital right up there with Seagate, for reliability, performance and quietness.

Slight modification, from personal experience.

Seagate = Samsung > WD > Anything else

Your rig is identical to mine, aside from the fact that I have a 3200+ and 2GB OCZ Performance RAM, and a Segate Hard Drive (also 250 GB). Same case, also. Also, I opted for a far cheaper, non-SLI motherboard to make way for more RAM and two DVD Burners. Oh, does it smoke....and I don't mean literally.

Thanks for all your comments! I changed the video card to a 6800GT and upped the RAM to 2GB. Is X800XL a better value than the 6800GT? Please glance one more time before I make a final decision.

Get a Leadtek 6800GT and you should be able to OC it to Ultra speeds without a hitch. :)

the 7800gt would hold its value longer then the 6800gt considering its only $50 more. I know you only have a 17" screen now but will it always be this way?
