Other non updated items:
Alienware ATX full tower case
19" NEC Diamondtron CRT FE991SB
Logitech Keyboard
SATA DVD Burner
Logitech 5.1 X540 Speakers

Total Upgrade minus Rebates = $882

All in all I anticipate a stable oc to 4.0ghz and I plan to utilize the eVGA step it up program to possibly get a more powerful card depending on what nVidia delivers in the coming months. I like to thank all of those who posted various pieces of information throughout Anandtech to assist my buying decisions.

Edit: Forgot to add in which cooler I'm using

Pretty solid build. I don't know if the DDR2-1000 is necessary, but I don't know the multiplier on the X3110. DDR2-800 gives you a 400MHz FSB, so that might be enough to hit 4GHz.

You might have some options on that second hard drive you're purchasing, but that's really up to you. You can pay another 20 bucks and double your space, though it might be slightly slower.

The multi is 9 on the x3110, so ddr2 800mhz only let's you overclock to 3.6ghz before you have to start overclocking the ram. If you want to go higher, that g.skill ram is a good choice.

If you have luck with excaliber pc please let us know.
I'd really like to grab one of those x3110's as well.

Build looks very good.

They just raised it $10. I got a confirmation after purchase and they have real time stock (look at the number next to the price).

I felt they are doing a decent job. But I'll post back once I have a tracking number since I purchased this on Sunday and it should ship today.

Hey bro,

Try this for your eVGA card: http://www.evga.com/VistaUltim...3ca-88f0-75ecd3f4c9fb&

You do not have to be a Vista Ultimate owner, as many people can check out without showing any proof. You also get Crysis with it, which you can use, or sell on craigslist for like $20-30 saving you some money.

In hindsight I should have gone with this deal but I didn't. I completely thought it had something more to do with Vista Ultimate but it looks like you are saying you don't need to show proof.

Glavin,

All looks good. Personally I would have chosen a different graphics card just because I think Single slot cooling solutions run a bit too hot for my taste. However, you did choose a good brand that will allow you to "step-up" to another card.

Overall though great job!

Ok looks like they just shipped it, says tracking # will be available tonight at 7pst. Not bad since I ordered it yesterday, now I just need to cancel my E8400 backorder with shopblt.com

I started a thread more than a week ago about excaliburPC having the chips in stock for a decent price. They delivered mine in 3 days and upgraded me from OEM to retail free of charge. I haven't gotten to fire my chip up yet, but no complaints on the customer service side of things.

xeons are supposed to be slightly higher quality than the regular c2d, right? like, on average, the xeon will oc slightly better than the consumer grade?

Anecdotal evidence at best I would say regarding the desktop chips. People are trying to infer things based on the fact that Xeon's are server chips and thus go through mor rigorous testing.

Thats what i figured, i didn't know if there were any tangible tests that xeons went through that they had to pass to be labeled xeons, while the rest are simply c2d.
