So i asked for a new build a few weeks ago.

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2302490&highlight=

Sleepingforest came up with a build in budget fairly quickly, and looks great.

At the time i asked for a 1300 Cdn budget. So i now have 1800 budget. So now i'm just tweaking it a bit.
Here is what i have tweaked so far, tell me if it's for the better. Maybe it's not.

I've included the link for you to see what i've selected. What i am not happy with is 4 sticks or RAM. Seems everything i picked 2x8megs gave me not compatible. I want 16 gigs, just not 4x4.

If you could suggest 2x8 gigs for this.

I have a gigabyte motherboard now, stable, and has done me well, I think this one will too.

Tax and all that, i'll be just over 1800, I tired to stay close to what sleepingforest suggested.

Still freaked out about partition a SSD for win7 and ubuntu.

What do you mean it gave you not compatible? RAM is pretty interchangeable.

Why the big jump in motherboard price, and why the relative case downgrade?

When given choices for RAM, it seemed anything i picked 2x8megs was not compatible. The website flags things it sees as not compatible. I just don't wanna buy things that do not work together. Honestly, I'm just out of touch with todays hardware. So i asked.

The motherboard, it seems to be latest and greatest with a budget in mind. The case i didn't realize until you pointed it out. I was just putting money into MB, and taking away from case.

Sleepingforest's original build is straight up better than this in terms of value for money. You've upped the price of parts that don't make a difference (mobo, more expensive GTX 670, CPU within 100Mhz) and have actually made the case worse (much worse).

I would recommend that you go back to the other thread and get that build except with this Corsair DDR3 1600 2x8GB kit.

If your budget has suddenly increased, maybe you should sell your old monitor and get a new one, or get some better peripherals. The build I posted before is pretty solid--just grab the RAM mfenn suggested.

Food for thought: a 1440p monitor runs roughly $700 CAD. Your old one will probably sell for $200-300.
