New build, old data

My ECS RS400a motherboard has failed after about 6 years, and without any notice. I have recent back-up of the entire drive and I still have the data on the HDD. My problem is how do I get the data from the old HDD into my new system? I can't use the "Restore" function of my back-up software because the old OS was Win XP SP3 and my new system has W7 SP1. I'm especially interested in recovering my "Outlook" emails and address book.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. My new system has :
MSI 880G-E45 MB,
AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black CPU,
Crucial 4GB DDR3-1333 DIMM Kit,
WD 500GB SATA 3.0 GBs

denis280, I have just built the new system and I don't have a 'system' installed yet. I do have the HDD that was in the old system that has Win XP SP3 on it. Can I just put that drive in the new system and have it try to boot off the Win XP OS? Thanks for the help!
