I listed the parts i have chosen with the price after and am looking for some opinions on if this would work together, and if there may be better or different choices around the same price range to benefit me. Please let me know if I missed anything. I was looking for getting this more toward the 700 price range but dont know where to change or cut out items

I do enjoy video gaming, video editting, live streaming, and other things like that. The only thing I already ordered is the ram, so any other suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance

EDIT - I found this great website that helps put parts together and build a system all in one place, please check out what i have so far and give me some advice 🙂 Would i need an additional cooler?

PS. I have been a member for like 5 years but couldnt recover my id so had to make a new one. Oh well

Back story, i currently own a dell with pretty good specs but I really find myself wanting to build a pc that will carry me and have the ability to upgrade. My current build now is

Intel i7 2600k
8G 1333 Ram (Ram upgrade wont allow me to utilize 1600 mhz)
Radeon 6670
1TB 7200 RPM Seagate (motherboard only allows 3gb/s SATA2 so i wouldnt get full benefit from SDD upgrade)

I mean my system is pretty nice, but i just find myself wanting to break over the hill, i know that means selling my old pc, building a new one, but i really wanna take that technological journey and own a badass pc for life without being restricted by dell or any other company. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated

Before this gets moved, let me say this:

Don't build a whole new computer.

TL;DR Summary
Save yourself hundreds of dollars and just get an SSD and a new GPU. That will set you up for a while. You may need to replace your PSU as well.

You don't need 1600 MHz for your CPU, which is already really good.

What games do you play, and at what resolution?

Switch that SSD from the Intel to either a Crucial M4 or the Samsung 830, they both sit right around $100 for 128GB, and are the kings of the hill. Whichever is cheaper is the one you want. You are limited to SATA 3Gb/s, the SSD will fill that right up, and you will definitely notice, and appreciate the difference in responsiveness and launch times.

If you are going to build a new computer, go to the General Hardware section and look at the sticky. Less money, better balance, and a better GPU.

Don't spend $12 on a sound card. I personally find dedicated sound cards to be unnecessary unless you actually have decent speakers or headphones to appreciate it, but what is REALLY unnecessary is spending $12 on one. At that point you are throwing your money away.

dont ever think like that, it will never happen. no matter how amazing you might build a pc today, in 5 years it will seem somewhat lame compared to the new stuff. all youre doing is wasting money

i agree with the other post. buy a nice ssd and a new gpu. it will feel like a whole new dream machine.

True, if you are going to get a dedicated sound card, make it at least a decent one.. at least a $40-50 Asus XONAR card or something.. the $12 sound card is probably identical to onboard sound quality.
