Usage is gaming primarily
Needs are speed and silence..
Overclocking: Minimal - only what board does automatically pretty much.

Case: Lian-Li PC-V351
Motherboard: Asus Maximus III Gene
CPU: Lynnfield i7 860
Cooler: Need input. Silence is king, but needs to be efficient as well. Watercooling possible?
Memory: 2*4GB kits of G.Skill Ripjaw PC3-12800 7-7-7-21 - Or the OCZ Gold P55 set. Input wanted!
PSU: NorthQ GC-850 (transfer from old build)
Storage: 2*80 Intel X-25M G2 in R0, and 2*1TB Samsung F1's (latter transfer from old)
Optical: Pioneer dvdr transfer from old build

Buying in Denmark - so no Newegg deals :)

Sorry mate, but you've got it wrong.. It is a 1156 mobo.. You're confusing it with Rampage II GENE.. GENE is just the uATX name for the ROG series..

I wanted 1333 mhz memory, but the selection is just waaaay limited compared to 1600 mhz stuff, and the price is the same.. I picked the geil ones because they were cheap, and had nice low latancy compared to stuff at the same price..

You are correct !!

The confusion... all mine... was that MoBo is not available here yet, or may not ever be...
Different Mobo Makers play games with products/and market availability.

G.skill eco if you can get it. CNPS10X is a nice line of coolers, or a Noctua/Mugen 2. Should only go watercooling if you want to do heavy overclocking. Air can handle anything mild as well as you need.

Second the noctua, ultra quiet especially NH-U9B SE2, or, if that doesn't fit, NH C12P SE14. Otherwise, I question that you'll see much of a difference in 2 80 GB G2's in R0, I'd just go with 1 160 not RAID, but to each his own . . .

Also, make sure your old DVDR is SATA and not IDE, pretty sure that board does not have IDE.
