New build, install OS first?

My first build fellas. I booted up and it beeped and asked for the boot disk, so I fed it the boot disk. Now I am thinking, should I have checked the settings in my Bios first?
Heres my system: 4300/965S3/2GBGSkillHZ/Tuniq/WDCaviarSata350/Sony/Corsair620/7600GT.
Flying blind here, your help appreciated.
