The NZXT Phantom is a very nice case. I don't think I would want to recommend something else. As for the GPU, I would recommend getting a MSI GTX570 Twin Frozr II or Asus GTX570 DirectCU II instead. That particular EVGA card does not have a non reference cooler which might be noisier and hotter. You can manually overclock the MSI or Asus.

You didn't list down a DVD/Blu-ray drive in that list. Other than that your son's rig is good.

I've had bad experiences with XFX power supplies. However, it's hard to argue against that AR price on a modular, 80 Plus Bronze PSU. Personally I always go with Silverstone or Seasonic. I consider those two the best in the business for PSUs.

This Asus Motherboard + RAM combo will save you more money than the CPU+ Mobo combo.

It's not quite the same mb and memory as in his links....But the mb does seem to be a one up upgrade and has bluetooth if it's of any use to the OP. The memory ??? they make so many damn choices these days so I'm not sure which is better anyways.

But it would be a $5 savings and a slightly upgraded mb for the OP :)

I've ordered stuff from directron.com before and have zero issues with them. Not sure where the OP poster is but they are based in Texas so shipping my wind up being quicker to him.

Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus is $30 shipped for example

For the price point of the MB if it was me I think I'd go for the ASUS P8P67-M PRO REV 3.0 instead tho. It's m-atx but it does offer the ability to sli and crossfire at 8x/8x at least if needed in the future. I'd think it would also have better resale value if it's anything to consider.

Guess you could also combo up with the same ram in the other combo suggested.

More, you forgot the $25 off from the promo code on the ram.

Yep, they are generally very good quality, though even the best can have a DOA.

I didn't see the promo code which does look to work even when purchased with the combo already. So yep it's $30 cheaper with a better mb :D

Also available in this Asus combo m-atx board but does offer sli/crossfire at 8x/8x if needed

OK fixed the combo link....Too many red gskill kits :)

The promo works even with the combo? That's a crazy good deal then.

I also learned something new today :)

Kinda like a microcenter deal for the masses!

Alot of folks here dont care for the NZXT Phantom case,

I have it and seriously like it, it will take alot of abuse. The plastic portions are quite sturdy and you can stuff this thing with fans for major airflow, or just a few for a more quiet system. There is space for ALL your stuff in there, and makes the cable management a breeze.

Good to know!
