Does this look okay so far?
Can anyone also recommend a good video card?
How big of a power supply would i need to run the above with whichever video card, 2 dvdrw, 4 harddrives?

will probably buy it all on newegg.
used for gaming, sound editing, graphic editing, media center, etc.

Let me first say that, you do not need SLI, if you plan on getting that motherboard for SLI. I think you will be much better off with a P35 based board or X38 based board coming out next week.

Other than that, I would probably recommend 4GB and Vista 64 Home Premium and an 8800GTS or GTX.

is your Corsair CL4 or CL5? it won't make a difference really, just curious as I got CL5.

I would be careful with this recommendation. When BeLikeMike716 said "sound editing", we did not get a good description. There can be some audio components that might be behind the curve on drivers for 64-bit Vista.

BeLikeMike, clarify what you mean by sound editing. Are you adding Midi boards you already own? Or were you just mashing stuff up?

BTW, if you are using a Wacom, they released 64-bit drivers just after Vista's release. So those are covered for the most part.

Well that is true, you should always check if the software and hardware you need is support on a new OS before you make the plunge, I just figured it would be useful for the extra RAM. But obviously if software and hardware he uses won't work on Vista, then that's out.

Oh sorry about that.
I will be using Windows Xp Pro 32bit.
and sound editing i will just be using a program like Fruityloops. Nothing crazy...

Looks good except for a few things. First of all I would get a Western Digital SE16, or a Samsung Spinpoint. By the way you can get 500GB models of the WD for around $100 if you are interested. The Western Digital is quieter and cooler and performs better than the Seagate. The Samsung does too but is more cool and quiet with less performance gains.

I would not get that video card either since you plan on gaming (though I don't know how heavily). I think a better deal would be to get an ATI X1950 Pro for ~$150. You will have much better performance, and you aren't running Vista so you won't miss DirectX10. You could also spring for an 8800GTS and get even more performance but the 8600GT is not worth it for gaming I think, unless it's just light gaming. But even then it's probably smarter to get an X1950 Pro since it offers better performance for the money.

And lastly, you don't need an SLI motherboard, especially if you plan on SLI'ing 8600GTs. Get a Gigabyte P35-DS3R instead and you will be fine.
