New build boots ok but no beep

I just finished building a budget computer for my brother in-law. This about the eighth computer I have built. Everything went good boots up, post seems fine the correct processor and memory. It all seems to function properly, Windows is running as it should. It does not beep on boot up from the PC speaker. Shouldn't there be one short beep when the computer first boots? I tried replacing the internal speaker with another that I know works and still nothing. Any suggestions.

Here are the components:

Antec case with Antec 300w power supply
Sempron 2800+
ECS KT600-A
Mushkin 512MB PC3200
Western Digital 120GB
Windows 2000

The manual is very clear about where the speaker plug goes. I even tried flipping the plug around just in case I had the polarity wrong. I'm not positive but I think the speaker should work either way.

I built systems lately that did not beep. Thinking something was wrong with the speaker, I even tried several different speakers and still no beep.

One had an onboard speaker that did not beep.

These systems booted up and ran fine.

I don't know if something's being overlooked in the CMOS programming or what.

Just wanted to let you know you're not alone in seeing this.

My K7N2 didn't beep at all when I first built it, they made it so it did beep with a later BIOS revision. If it's working fine don't worry about it. If you want to make sure your speaker is hooked up properly then pull your soundcard and see if it beeps in Windows.
