It can. MC brands = cheap price, cheap quality. I wouldn't buy MC RAM either, it's covered by 1 year warranty whereas any reputable brand offers limited lifetime warranty.

Yes, yes it can. That "400W" PSU is rated at a whopping 240W on the 12V rail, which is what a modern PC makes the most use of. Whether or not it can actually deliver its rated output is yet another big question mark.

Since this build has a pretty low power draw, the PSU will probably "work fine" at least for a while. It'll just be really disappointing if it goes out in a blaze of glory and takes the other $478 with it.

Points well taken regarding PSU. I went with the Anteq for the extra few bucks and ordered the Rosewill case as well. Anything I need to do on the mobo as far as jumpers when the case comes in? I'll likely be back for pointers in couple days when parts arrive.

Do you mean stand-offs? Most cases nowadays ship with them already in place, if not then you'll likely be given a bag with them. The stand-offs are important in that they prevent your motherboard from just shorting itself out on the case so make sure you use them.

The only loose cables (i.e. cables that are not permanently attached to a component) that you will need are SATA cables. In your case you';l need two (HDD and ODD). Every mobo I've seen comes with at least that many, but it wouldn't hurt to open up the box to check.

OK guys need your help: Hooking up the PSU (Antec) now, and couple things are unclear:

ATXPWR1 on MB has more pins than the connector on PSU, what happens with the rest of pins?

ATXPWR2 on MB is 8pin yet the PSU has 2 4pin wires. Which one do I plug into ATXPWR2?

Another problem: The wires from PSU are not long enough to reach ATXPWR2, what do I do?

Sorry, which Antec PSU are you referring to?

The BP350 PSU should have a 20+4 pin connector to fit the 24-pin header on the motherboard. Are you quite sure you didn't simply neglect 4 pins hanging off of the main connector?

The newegg specs list only one 4-pin CPU cable. You can safely use one 4-pin connector in an 8-pin socket, and if your unit really has two separate identical 4pin CPU power cables, it doesn't really matter which one you use. If your unit actually has a cable with 4+4 pins (i.e. not two separate cables), use that.

Another problem: The wires from PSU are not long enough to reach ATXPWR2, what do I do?

That's... unfortunate. The PSU is ATX compliant so it should have wires long enough for a standard ATX motherboard in a standard ATX mid tower case. If it really isn't long enough, you have two choices... get a different PSU or buy a cable extension.

Antec Basiq BP350

There is no 20+4 from the psu, However there is a 20pin and 2 separate 4pins. Can I just stick one of the 4pins along with the 20pin into the header on the MB?

The wires definitely do not reach, I will look for a cable extension, hoopefully MC carries them.

Oh, then it seems the other 4-pin cable is for the motherboard 20+4 header. The 4-pin connector for the 20+4 header should look like the one on the right. It is keyed differently from the CPU power cable so you should be able to tell which is which

It probably doesn't reach because it's designed to be used in a case with the PSU mount location at the top.

I guess it would've been a good idea to pay a bit more for a PSU with longer cables to begin with rather than having to buy an extension. I wasn't aware of this, and I should've checked the newegg reviews

Can you still return it?

Does it matter which of the 4pin power cables I plug where? They both look identical.

The CPU cable should look different from the 4 pin connector to the 24-pin header.

But... I've never heard of the 4-pin connector in a 20+4 set being in a different cable altogether, that sounds just confusing. And pointless. A regular 20+4 pin cable linked to in my previous post should be cheaper to manufacture, and those four pins should not have any use independent of the 20 pin connector.

The ivy bridge processors can take better advantage of 1600 RAM without overclocking. I dont know how much actual improvement this would mean. Sometimes a speed improvement is only like 1%-5%.
