Well I know what you're talkin about. I leave in Greece and thingz here are not much better...
But if you think that way,IMHO then why are you going with high end stuff and paying so much extra money.
PCIe is way too premature and will not benefit you for that money.
For that money I would get a 3.2c(Northwood) or a A643200+ with 1gb of fast ram and 6800U or x800xt, and save myself money for a killer monitor.
I wouldn't buy a LCD for gaming, but that's just me. I just don't find them good yet for gaming.
But you can get a killer CRT 22'' for gaming and an LCD for your other jobs.
Just some thoughts...

x800 and 6800 are priced around 1,000 here or there abouts so im not going that option (would love to but bank balance saw it as a nightmare)lol fast ram is also around the 800 dollar mark so i could purchase those 2 items but nothing else lol, i am however concidering AMD 64's but i thought since i have only run AMD machines i would give Intel a go... just so i could say i have tried both and like "whichever" one better...... (i sometimes travel alot) take PC with so LCD would be eaiser to transport than a good big CRT (i know LCD is maybe not as good for gaming) BUT i also was thinking of what else i use the computer for and where i take it :)

Well, it looks OK, but I got a dual 248 Opteron system with 2 gig of memory for not much more than that !

That probably explains it. Good luck. I would only say that maybe the Athlon64 system would still be cheaper, but I saw your comment above, so go for whatever you want.

1000 $ for a gpu?
So why going on a PCIe system when everything's so expensive?

Well weither or not i go for top end PCI-e or normal, prices are still expensive, the PCI-e graphics card i choose was under the price that i could get a AGP ATI 9800 Pro for, so i just thought i would check out the newer technology .... but it seems by all the negitive comments that it may have been a waste of time researching those items i listed above in first post

Ok well after more looking its a toss up between Gigabyte ATI x600 Pro PCX card ( GV-RX60P128D ) and nVidia Asus GeForce PCX 5750 Extreme N5750 TD 128MB PCI-Express Video Card Video-Out ..... which one would be better? Any Ideas?
