Then that's the placebo effect. Unless everything you are using has an analog connection. If they do then i can understand you might hear a difference. If it is digital however you have a defective unit or selective hearing 😉

And what if the onboard doesnt have 7.1 virtual sound? HAVE YOU HEARD THEM COMPARED?

AND IN GAMES? Does onboard have 3d directional audio? MINE DIDNT.

YEAH I MAD

my friend, I am an audiophile, i have spent well over $5,000 on my current collection of headphones and speakers. (this doesnt included the sources either 😱 )

Believe me when i say you wont notice a difference unless there is something wrong on your end or it is an analog connection.

Yep, the placebo effect is the number one reason that most "audiophile" companies are in business. Digital is digital, your $170 would be far better spent on better speakers.

Additionally, get the Sandforce like mnewsham was suggesting, forget the $170 PSU and get something reasonable like an Eartwatts 650, get the 2500K instead of the 2600K, get the GA-P67A-UD3 (trust me, you will never "upgrade to SLI"), and forget the D14 and just use the stock cooler or a Hyper 212+.

Let it go, he's just a kid who wants something shiny. 😉

Seriously, I can't even believe we're discussing the relative merits of sources for Logitech speakers! 😛

okay say, hypothetically, I owned this said sound card. In games, it sounds much better, simply because I can hear when something is to the left and when something is to the right.

Then hypothetically you were duped by gimmicks, advertising, and misinformation.

Happy?

You know what, ill show you guys!

You said you were going to "show" us, well i am showing you my setup in my basement. Take it from someone who knows audio, you "hypothetically" paid for a gimmick and hypothetically got ripped off.

Sounds better to me, placebo or not.

Because digital never has noise right?

Oh wait. 1 isn't always a 1 if the signal doesn't get there intact. Computers have lots of EMI. Sound cards often have better isolation.

who cares if he bought some bullshit audio card, with 2500 dollar budget he can buy whatever he wants and unless hes an incapable retard its most likely gonna be better than anything you ever gamed on

agreed, however buying a $180 sound card for a digital source is ridiculous. An external USB DAC would be better then spending almost $200.

I'd keep arguing, but we have the same view really. It's just a matter of which product is actually worth more to him. The real answer is to grab an Essence STX so when he gets headphones (because you should) they'll be used to a much greater potential.

On a side note, I'm jealous of your setup.
