sorry i just saw the hardware guide for beginners..too late..anyway here in uk there less products and all are more expensive..shit

I'm in UK too...it depends where you go to get your components....where are you getting yours?

Please tell me it's not f'ing PCworld or a local computer shop!!

I think you are looking at ebuyer.....am i right? not a bad choice....

If it is only for your mother then it doesn't have to be anything special.....looks like a decent all purpose machine.....

If you want future upgradability and some extra speed then maybe an A64 based sempron (i.e 3100+) may be better....

but if she is only just replacing an old pentium then I doubt that is the case!!

looks ok otherwise

I'm from the UK too (Scotland) and it is amazing just how much stuff costs in the UK compared to the USA :|

You get a budget PC essentially for the same price in US$ as you paid in Pounds

(That's about US$470 for that set up of your mums - people were getting deals on compete Dell systems with LCD's for that in the Hot Deals section!!!)

I've bought stuff previously at Ebuyer too which is pretty reasonable by UK standards 🙂

I should also point out that you should check your local Aldi supermarket for PC deals - they had some cheap hard drives when I was back in the UK in January.

...Obviously not the first place you would think about shopping for computer components

BTW, that looks like a very good machine for the purpose. IMO semprons are the best budget choice by far right now.
