New board with AMD 64 3200+ 90nm

Hey ppls

I want to upgrade from my solid but not as fast (XP 2600+/512 mushkin 3200/AIW9600/ECS KT600-A) to somth more powerfull and first time gonna try OC. Stuff I think would be great to use from bunch of reviews and some experience:

MSI RS480M2-IL (not avail on the market yet, 2 weeks!)
AIW X600 (ditto)
Zalman 7700 AlCu (with Arctic Silver i suppose)
Athlon 64 3200+ 90nm Winchester
2 x 512 Crucial Ballistix PC3200 (or OCZs? Enhanced Latency Series Gold Edition 184 Pin 512MB DDR PC-4000 or OCZ Performance Series 184-Pin 512MB DDR PC-3200 Rev 3)
Thermaltake VA3000 Dream Tower Black Tsunami
Link Depot Super Flower TITANIUM BLACK 550W 14CM Super Silent Power Supply, Model "TT-550TB"
1 x WD Raptor II and 2 x Maxtor 160gb Sata 150 (Raid 0) and Audigy2 ZS

Just wanna build a powerful system (mostly concentration on multimedia, business apps and RTS games that doesn't sound like Cape Canaveral. Actually would be nice not to hear a thing...but still to OC. You guys think it sounds like good config to push it to 2.6 running stable with according RAM config and super quiet?...maaan feel excited :-D! Hope that board is gonna be nice and system turns out sweet...crossing my fingers for AIW X600 PCI-E, Maybe will work even better on ATI Radeon® XPRESS 200 Chipset. Would hate to be a phony. Appreciate any help guys!

cheers

If you want a quiet system, raptors might not be the best choice.

Also i've never heard of link depot, but then again that might not be a bad thing. Over than that .

Oh and you might want to look at the thermalright xp-90

Yep get rid of the raptor. Performance gain will be minimal anyways. Go with a Seasonic PS instead of the Super Flower. Check out www.Silentpcreview.com for more information. Best site on the net for reviews and advice.

That Thermaltake case will suck as well. Go for one with 2x 120mm fan mounts.

Spoken like a person who hasn't either had one and is rehashing what he hears or doesn't know what he is talking about....

10000rpm is the performance gain..All SATA crap is a farce at 150mb/s but the raptors and the drive speed shows a noticebale diff. in the desktop in those things ppl forget about like,,,loading, opening apps, zippiness throughout the desktop, copying (real world not benches alone)...

I am not the only one who says this...

I say if the price is decent get it.....Best thing next to scsi....

Raptor's aren't all that noisy. Only really a problem if you are downloading stuff overnight and your pc is in your room.

I also agree wholeheartedly with Duvie. The world is NOT flat and we should NOT all be using 4.2k drives. Performance difference between 10k (or 15k 🙂 ) and 7.2k is very noticeable. If you have ever tried to do anything intensive on a laptop, you should start to understand the difference.

Link Depot is Newegg screwing up again with their descriptions. It's really TTGI/Super Flower. That should be a kickass power supply, but I would also suggest getting the TTGI PNP-550-14L instead. Same power supply, but has the 24-pin plug for future BTX compatability and P'n'P (and sheathed) cord management! Otherwise, you will end up buying another one in about 2 years: http://www.newegg.com/app/view...=17-101-613&DEPA=0

I thiiiink that the bios gives no overclocking options on the board, or if it does, very weak ones.
I just read today stelleg is right. @#$%! I e-mailed MSI to confirm, but this review shows that there are none. 🙁
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2004/msi/ms-7093/g4.htm Oh, it now shows delayed until 1/15 @ Atacom and 1/19 @ Monarch Computers. Monarch briefly dropped the pretense, lowered the price and listed it as "Sold Out." This is BS, I am cancelling my order! Damned flaky MSI, this is TWO boards they have screwed me on...

This was supposed to be THE board I was using for a mATX system. Now I don't know what the heck I'm going to use.
