i to say the least have been on a roll of bad luck computer wise in the last week
started monday got my new dfi infinity and got it home installed it and at boot it only showed 512 meg of ram not 768.i turned it off and removed two sticks of ram rebooted and it did not post:shocked:
reset CMOS and moved the ram from ddr1 to ddr3 "i know it shouldn't have worked"that did it and went to boot up. i get boot from CD then after a sec it says no OS installed
this is really starting to scare me so i get out the xp disk and proceed to setup. it crashes at the end of the first setup section not even to choose a disk etc.:disgust:
so i try two sticks of ram
just so you guys know my system was at default
133 x15 1.45 core memory on safe mode 2.5-3-3-7
all other voltages at default
i always unplug the psu when i change system hw.
well for whatever reason it gets all the way into setup with a dimm in slots 1 and 3
i get to the choose a partition section and hold on the tears are flowing onto my kb........
they are all unallocated including the boot sectors
they are 160 gigs each and only show as 131 not the usual 156 i think it is.
all of my stuff gone all of my music 2000 songs tons of ISO images all of my web stuff all of my backup and restore stuff apps that i will never find again......:brokenheart:
so now 1 week later i had my abit nf7-s running like a charm and this morning out of nowhere my VGA just crashes goes to 640 x 480 x 8 colors:shocked:
i reinstall the drivers and reboot and that does it about 5 Min's later POP blank screen and that wonderful oh you know its good and fried smell.
oh sh!t I'm down there sniffing like a hound and after some checking see that one of the transistor at the south end of the ddr slots was fried white. I'm thinking what fried board CPU VGA "I'm already on my backup as i killed my 9600 trying to put a hsf on it "whole nother incident".i am very careful and cautious when i install or change settings SO it was just a fluke "boy ile never do that again"
so today i went out and got another abit infinity as it is really the best board for my mobile"i just got a evil one" get it installed and find that this mornings incident fried my new 160 gig wd hdd.
:brokenheart::disgust:
so i did replace the original hsf an the north bridge but this board has been running great so i don't think that could be it and given that would it be fair to pop the original hsf and rma it as it was a failure unrelated i think to the north bridge. i am also wondering am i screwed oyta a hdd as it was part of the failure and not strictly defective?
i want to do the right thing but not lose 100 bucks either.
on to the new board here is mbm log and is it me or is my CPU somehow running cooler than the case
do i need a bios flash?
