New Black Mesa Trailer!

I hope it offers some new gameplay this time around. HL2 and it's successors have been played exactly the same for years now. It is long past boring. Not to mention the seriously dated visuals, but that's not a big deal if the game is fun. From the video, this game looks like nothing more than HL2 gameplay in a different set of levels.

Try the YouTube version, there's a High Quality version of it. It's certainly not as high as 720P but it gets the job done, everyone is trying to download it now, it's certainly slow indeed.

Uh... I was under the impression that Black Mesa Source was HL1, updated to Source engine and HL2 graphics. Your comment is pretty dumb considering what it is. It's not like they're making a new game for free.

And for people who haven't played HL1 like me, they should be excited (as I am).

I was under the wrong impression of what it was. I thought it was an entirely new game.

Plus its not made by Valve... It's a Source game based off of the HL2 engine.

It's an FPS.

Formula for a "successful" FPS? Same graphics as the last four + contrived storyline that doesn't make sense + grenade launcher = $$$ . There's NO actual content difference between the games. They're all the same. I don't care what franchise you're talking about...they're all the same. Hell, even Hellgate: London was the same.

I really wish someone would come up with something new. The same old shit time and time again got old in 2000.

Me want. This looks awesome. HL1 is quite possibly the best PC game in history and this will bring the graphics up to date.

You really don't know what you are talking about, do you? HL was one of the first FPSs that did have an intense story line and revolutionary graphics (for 1998). Sounds like you just don't like FPS games, which is fine, but that's no reason to crap on the genre.

Ehm ill reserve my judgement for when its released. Playing through the same thing ive already played through many times with prettier graphics may not actually be all that fun.

But in saying that it looks really frickin cool and ill definately give this a shot! Looks far more polished than most mods/total conversions.

Does this mean that this is finally done? That is awesome, I tried playing through Half-life Source before starting up HL2 when I bought it, but I couldn't get through the first level because the graphics were too dated and the gameplay was kind of boring. (I remember thinking it was pretty cool when I first played it, but it was my college roommates game and I only played a couple of times.) I would like to go and play through the original game if this mod is actually complete.

Looking forward to this. Haven't played HL1 in ages, but it is easily one of the best games ever and set the bar for FPSs at the time.

Absolutely... I'm looking forward to this, and I'd happily pay $50 to play through HL again with nicer pretties. Most games are just rehashes of what's already been done anyway. You might as well pick one that /know/ is good ;^)

If you have a Steam account, check to see if you have HL1 under "my games", it comes bundled with with several other games.

I still have the Platinum Collection on my shelf... I'd just like to play it again with better graphics. HL along with RTCW and MOHAA is the most fun I've had with a SP game. HL was brilliant, while HL2 is just shadow of the original.

What I liked best about the original was the puzzles. They were kind of tricky, and I had to consult a walkthrough on a couple of occasions. HL2's puzzles were uninspired, and just added tedium to the game :^/

oh  @ you.

HL1 *was* the something new.

I've been rabidly waiting for BMS for years. Glad to see it's not gone the vaporware route.
