Anyone else seen this new ad from the one; "when asked how many houses Mccain had he said he didn't know, well he has 7 houses".

I'd rather someone who routinely lives in several different places during the year to forget how many houses he has (particularly if you're married to a moneybags) than someone that forgets how many states there are. Really, we're trying to go this petty now.

The states was stupid but a quick mistake. A person who literally does not know how many houses he has has something far more substantial wrong with his mind.

The Democrats really need to drop any pretense of being nice guys and go on the offensive as well.

What's happening now reminds me a lot of what I read about Bush vs. Clinton in '92. As soon as Clinton took his foot off the gas, Bush started to catch back up. However, it's all a matter of timing. No doubt Senator Obama will put that massive warchest to good use.

So if your wife manages a bunch of rental properties that you know little to nothing about, there is something wrong with your mind?

Right. I think Obama had to tread carefully with Clinton. But McCain promised to have a clean campaign and broke that promise. We'll see how hard Obama goes after McCain.

Hey genius, the point of the ad isn't a memory test for McCain, it was exactly what you inadvertantly posted. McCain is trying to paint Obama as not being like Mr. and Mrs. Average American. If you have so many houses that you can't even remember that probably means you aren't exactly the average American either.

Anyways, Obama has been under steady attack by some pretty dishonest ads. I'm glad he's hitting back.

Exactly. I have a feeling that treasure chest of McCain soundbites, from him fully agreeing/supporting Bush on Meet The Press, to "there will be other wars" and "maybe 100 years", will be blazing the airwaves in September and October.

I presume these are not rental properties but private homes. If they are rental properties, clearly the entire premise here is deceitful.
In any case, here is the ad.

It's pretty fvcking mindless, to be completely honest. I think it's silly he doesn't know how many houses he owns, but this ad certainly does scrape the barrel. That we are presumed or in truth so brainless that 30 seconds talking about his houses is more important than a vast number of other issues speaks to our competency as people to choose leadership.

EDIT: I've spent more than 30 seconds, but it's not a tv-spot ;)

if he said 7 and some blogger found out that his wife managed a rental property in their name that McCain had never seen that bumped up the number to 8, people would be falling over themselves calling him a liar.

Given the deal with Rezko and Obama's house...I don't think this was a wise line of attack.

I'm guessing they will after this add. The McCain camp should also do an add about Michelle's do nothing hospital job for $370K.

That's a waste of money then. I don't think McCain has been pretending to be Average Joe, so I don't see how it will affect him.

Yeah, let's do a Michelle ad as well. After that, we can do one about Cindy McCain's drug use and their lie about meeting Mother Teresa.
