How about SLI'd wives? . . .
You wouldn't need to 'game' anymore. 😉

The 6800 ultra cant even take advantage of the 512mb and have playable framerates since it dosnt have enough memory bandwith.
512mb coupled with the 6800 ultra GPU is a marketing gimmik IMO.
Its just like when ATI had 256mb on the 9800 XT. 128mb and 256mb made no diff.....

First of all, 256MB of vRAM DOES make a difference over the 128MB Radeon 9800Pro . . . +10% peformance increase with the 9800xt . . . Painkiller's expansion pak requires 256MB of vRAM to run with everything enabled - my 9800xt handles it with ease whereas the 128MB version falls short.😛
Certainly SLI'd 6800U's WILL take full advantage of the 512MB of memory . . . even a single 6800u-512MB will finally run D3 at highest setting. 😉
And probably "worth it" for around-the-corner next-gen games. . . . . especially when prices drop to ~$350 this Fall. 😉

The Radeon 9800 XT does 10% better than the Radeon 9800 pro because the GPU is clocked higher and not becuase of the amount of ram. Looks like you learn new things every day. You should google it and read up on it.....

Specs of the 9800XT codenamed R360. It comes clocked at a core speed of 412 MHz, this is compared to the 380 MHz on the 9800Pro. The memory is clocked at 730 MHz, which is compared to 680 MHz on the 9800Pro.
Like I said....Im right....

Hmmm a better question would be "Where is my wife?" if I buy this SLI set, and the answer would be "Talking to our lawyer". 😉
With this SLI set who needs a wife.😉

Much as I love my SLI sets, my wife has some "whitesheet features" that I require for some games. 😉
