Got it ups, from the BB 299.99 deal, yesterday afternoon. I'm telling you, your paying for some real estate with this card.... almost twice the size of my poor old 9800 np it replaced. Installed the drivers included and then switched them out for the 61.80 betas.
IQ is definately on par, or better, than the 9800. Noise is slightly more than the 9800 np, but what did I expect? Still, not bad.
I installed coolbits 2.0 and the auto overclocker wouldn't work - any ideas? On manual overclock, I've got it at 426/1100 and it isn't flinching. I doubt I'll carry it higher just to see what it will do because there is no point. I'm cpu bound as it is (athlon 64 3200+) and my lcd screen has a native resolution of 1280x1024. Anyway, I'm getting kind of sick of all this obsession with numbers and calling a card a POS when it won't overclock way beyond it's advertised specs - if it does the job in the game, who cares? This card is plenty fast for my system and any more speed would be a waste. Far Cry is as smooth as butter with high IQ in game play now and that's what I wanted.
Another note: the card temp reads as being 51 degrees in idle and up to 62 degrees after gaming, from what I've read, people have reported it running hotter than this. Can I trust the temp readings I'm getting?
Anyway, thanks to DoobieOnline for turning me on to this deal in a prior post at a point when I had time to get in on it. I was dubious that BB would fulfill this order, but they did, to their credit, when a lot of other buyers were getting frustrated over their online deals.

426/1100... Not bad. I wish people could go higher on the memory though.

I'm looking for 450/1200 on mine when it comes in. :D

Yeah the whole numbers thing is BS about how it OC's maybe its because they have practically the same memory and the X800 Pro's just starts out lower... It doesn't mean the GT is crap NV just decided to put more umph in the cards memory and ATI felt like screwing over the people who don't want/know how to OC.. hmm whatever.

I haven't really found what it will do with the memory... I just dialed that in because I saw what others were getting and I thought that would be a good starting point. I'll go ahead and see what it will do later when I got time and I'll let you know.

It's not BS. x800 pro memory starts off lower, but it overclocks like a mofo.....550 mhz is easy. As opposed to GT memory where 550 mhz is your peak. XT memory can easily hit the mid 600s. Whether it means anything or not is anybody's guess.

Filmore is the card dual dvi?

Congrats FC! I'm wondering what psu, case, and fans you're using? (Your rig link is busted.) The reason I ask is because your temps are SO much better than mine at idle/load. I'm now seeing 62C idle and as high as 91C load, but BFG Support replied to my email about it saying those temps are fine.

If you have time, please download the rendering progam rthdribl here and run it with the nvidia temp display on the screen at the same time. You should see your max load temps after 10 - 15 minutes of running rthdribl. Please post your results here when you can. Thanks!

DoobieOnline-

Please check my system rig page again... I think I fixed it. If not, I have a Supermicro 750a tower case with 3 fans and a Antec 380w TruePower. There's lots of air circulation in that old case (I've had it since my old AMD k-6 days). I'll download that rendering program you linked me to when I can (I'm on my laptop at work now) and I'll try it later with the temps displayed at the same time.

Thanks for the info! I think the rig link is still broken at the moment. :( It makes sense for your temps to be a little lower because you're running a larger case. I'm using a mini-tower (Antec SX635BII) but I have 60fps of pretty cool air rushing through it and thought that would be enough. I do have a couple of larger cases sitting in the closet along with a Tagan 480W unit that I never got around to installing, so maybe I'll do a little rebuilding this weekend and see if a larger case and better psu helps.

Yeah, that's weird.... I was accessing it, but now it's broken again. But for that matter, I don't seem to be able to access anyone's system rig page.
