new BF3 285.62 drivers released

I was running 275.33 for a week 24/7 no crashes period. Switched to this new driver and got this big purple ring on my desktop, then the driver starting crashing and had recovered crap. Restarted and everything was fine.

But my OCD said do another reinstall to be sure. Sooo... we shall see

I must be lucky with all the other errors and bugs I've been having with nvidia's drivers since the Summer, I have not got this TDR crashing bug with the BF3 drivers.

I had a weird bug in the BF3 betas where GPU usage would just suddenly drop off from 85-99 to 60-65 and never come up. The only fix was fully reinstalling the drivers. That bug is gone for me with these WHQL. I still have to disable hardware acceleration for flash though, because that crashes me.

266.58 or 275.33 are still the only stable sets it seems. Lot's of TDR, install, Media Centre and BF3 stuttering problems being reported on the new set.

WTG Nvidia 🙄

OpenGL performance is about 4%-8% faster in most of the games I tested. I guess the Rage specific optimizations help more general cases too.

Also the driver throttles back to idle clocks much faster after quitting games, which is good.

That is slow. I will only play games that run capped @ 60fps.

Its a bad coded engine. Graphics aren't all that.

I will go with modern warefare 3 this year. gl

Does poorly coded mean that you can't run at 1080p with all the bells and whistles? Well duh, you need a fairly up to date system for 1080p. Come on, thats to be expected with the dated rig in your signature. You should be able to play 720p fine, though, performance scales well at lower resolutions.

I'm still on 275.33 because of the crash-and-recover problem while browsing with any 28x driver I've tried. It sounds like this is still an issue with the "WHQL"s. How a problem this bad could get past their quality control puzzles me.

Companies are smarter now. They let consumers do the QA for them. Look at the condition in which most games are released these days. I ran into a game breaking bug within 1min of playing the BF3 campaign! 1 min! It wasn't even an action sequence. I was just following a guy.

I guess the part I find frustrating is that people have been reporting the bug I'm experiencing for months (in the previous WHQLs and the most recent betas), but it still hasn't been addressed. Why would they certify the drivers if there is a significant number of people reporting a frequent driver crash?

I don't have any of these stability problems either. I just re-booted for the first time in 9 days, I checked event viewer. I have no critical events. That's what I advice people with trouble to take a look at. There might be some information that's helpful
Go to start menu and type event , event viewer should show up at the top.

Those are horrible numbers... 30fps is unplayable. This is why my war game for the year is Modern Warefare 3 because I know it will run as fast as Crysis 2 , Dirt 3, 60fps capped....etc... gg and gl The 580 cant even handle this game, How sad, The Frostbite engine blows when it comes to performance. PLus theres no way the graphics are better then Crysis 2 or Modern Warefare 3 but yet it runs only at 25 to 30fps, While Crysis 2 and MW3 run @ 60fps capped no matter what the action is. Thank you,, gg gb and always gl

Me either. I guess we are lucky.

I was getting the random driver crashes with previous drivers, but it seems to have been fixed now. Although. after reading Grooveriding's post where his gpu's will occasionally underclock themselves and need to have a reboot or driver reinstall, that just happened to me. First time for that though.

First time ever for me having troubles with new drivers from either company. Crysis 2 wouldn't start, BFBC2 wouldn't start, and Witcher2 wouldn't start. Had to kill launcher in task manager. When I was loading 285.38 betas with a clean install Witcher2 launched.

1. The game runs fine for most people 50-60fps. I get that on GTx 580, so argument is flat wrong. Like EVERY GAME you have to adjust settings for video card you have. Even mw3.
2. Majority of people won't notice a difference anyways if its below 60fps. It does not mean much to most people.
3. MW3 graphics are not nearly as good as bf3, have you not seen screenshot comparisons or you to busy trolling forums to actually learn about FPS and graphics quality?

There is a SLI profile for Rage. It switches render mode to single GPU.😛

I wouldn't really call that much of an SLI profile.

ID Tech 5 has been a huge letdown so far. I'm hoping other developers stay away from licensing it.

Upgraded to this new release....still having random driver crashes, sometimes mulitple times per day and even while just web browsing. So far, have had no stable Nvidia drivers at all. Horrible and about to make me switch out the card for an ATi card. While performance may not be the same, at least I've never had such driver crashing problems when I used ATi cards.

Just as an FYI....my system is a 2500K @ 4.6GHz on an Asus Maximus Gene-Z, 16GB Corsair DDR3-1600 RAM, Intel 510 250GB SSD. Video card is an EVGA 560Ti, running at its stock speeds.

Just an FYI... unstable CPU and memory can also cause the nVidia "display driver has stopped responsing and has recovered" problems. It's not just the GPU that can trigger it.

I'm not sure what happened with nvidia and their drivers. Late summer they just started releasing crap. Buggy, broken profiles, crashing, breaking other applications.

I really think they lost some people who used to work on them or are spreading them too thin. Thankfully I don't have these crashes, I just can't use hardware accelerated flash in games, also I have to disable aero or I get really low GPU usage in BF3.

Just some weird bugs that weren't there before. It's a pain in the ass getting issues like this and having to waste time messing with your system to find a solution/workaround.
