i am getting good performance improvement with the new drivers in DX11 games with GTX 580 and PC in sig.

Today i am testing GTX 590 and then GTX 550 Ti. Will have a Performance Analysis of GF 285.62 done and published tomorrow.

No stability issues to report with the GTX 580.. i wish i could say the same for BSoDs with Radeon drivers (Cat 10-9/10-10beta) and AM3+/Ph II/FX-8150 with DE3 and TW:Shogun II
-AMD says it may be an issue with Steam 😛

I'm not sure what happened with nvidia and their drivers. Late summer they just started releasing crap. Buggy, broken profiles, crashing, breaking other applications.

I haven't had any issues with Nvidia drivers in a long time. When I get a crash, 99% of the time it's because my cards are overclocked too high and I forgot to adjust the fan speed..

You'll inevitably see what *EVERYONE* is talking about, give it time.

Just an FYI... unstable CPU and memory can also cause the nVidia "display driver has stopped responsing and has recovered" problems. It's not just the GPU that can trigger it.

Just an FYI.....this isn't the first or twenty-first computer I've built that was OC'd. And since it's passed 24 hour runs of Memtest, Linpak, and Prime 95 without errors, among other stress testing programs I've run on the system, I'd like to think the OC is somewhat stable.

The Nvidia card replaced an ATi card that never crashed....and yes, driver cleaner was used between card installs.

And another FYI....the crashes are happening when the system is OC'd or at stock speeds. And when the ONLY crash happening with the system is the Nvidia drivers, think that says it all.

Working fine for me. Ended the Firefox crashes (though using Chrome for a few weeks wasn't bad).

I'm not saying your OC is unstable, this is just a general statement...

but I have run into issues in that past where a system will pass memtest, linpak, prime95 (blend, small and large), and furmark (gpu of course) only to fail while playing an actual game and it had nothing to do with the video card.

on the drivers note, this drivers have been wonderful for me. I have no complaints.

Oh, did you fix your 6990 problem with that MB causing crashes?

I've beaten both DE3 and played countless hours in Shogun 2 without a single glitch or crash.

Nope. i updated my old post ... here, somewhere. It fixed itself
:whiste:

Yes, i played DE3 and Shogun 2 without issues - but try it on an FX CPU 😛
-- AMD has already acknowledged the issues and believes it has to do with Steam
😵

This fixed all my problems with beta driver. media apps work fine, and BF3 works flawless.

However, i do get random green screen flashing every now and then. Not sure what that is about, but its not really noticeable unless i'm in a tank for some reason.

I was hoping that this would solve the TDR issues with any driver above 280 on my Asus GTX 460 1GB card.

Unfortunately, it did not........ same old issue with normal desktop use (no gaming at all).

Back to the 275.33 drivers for me

I spoke to soon. Randomly keep getting "Drive not responding" now. It worked all day yesterday, no problems. Get on computer and thats the first thing that happened, now it won't stop. reinstall driver, do clean install, it works for about a hour and starts happening again.

SOB.

I'm thinking its something to do with power saving/power related to the card. Some have got it to be fixed by just changing power usage in control panel from adaptive to full. Others, like myself, does not work.

It ONLY effects programs other than games though. I can play BF3 fine, but firefox, VLC/media player classic/etc i get the dreeded "drive stopped responding " issue.

The odd thing is that release notes showed it was fixed, must of been related to something else. I've had this problem since 280 beta drivers for bf3 came out.

Since I moved to Windows 7 over a year ago I’ve had exactly one TDR error. It’ll be interesting to see if those people who frequently get the problem are also overclocking.

I don't have any overclocking at all, its just 280x series that are causing all the problems. Apparently Nvidia knows about the problem, but have yet to fix it oddly enough since they started putting out 280x version.

I run on a GTX 580, no overclock on GPU or CPU.

As I type this i've had THREE drive stopped respondings messenges. If i revert back to 270x series, zero problems at all. But I can't play BF3 with those so..

Remember, games are fine, its anything else that is messed up. Videos/web browsers be it Crome,ff,IE/ media players tons of them.

Its %100 driver related, google "Driver stopped responding" for the latest drivers and thousands of posts about it.

What voltage should a GTX 580 default be running anyways? Some people reported that they are to low and that fixed the problem raising it..

i didn't realize that these drivers were just released on Monday 😛

Very good performance improvements overall with 22 games tested!
-- no issues to report

I know this will mostly be a wasted post, but I just want to make sure:

you are on the 285.62 (WHQL) drives, yes? The beta .35 release I had driver crashes galore with my 560 Ti 2gb SLI. So far, everything seems good.

Haven't had error messages or BSOD, though BF3 did cause a hard lockup last night. I haven't performed a lengthy system stability test, so it could be the CPU or GPU overclocks... but normally you're lucky enough to receive error messages. Randomly guessing what to change is kind of annoying... hopefully I can get a true error message at some point, if indeed it is a system stability issue versus a buggy BF3. Likely the latter, I know... can't even play the game with multi-mon.

yes the latest, every 280v gives me major problems.
