new BF3 285.62 drivers released

Hopefully they fix the video corruption issue with VLC/media player classic. That driver was the worst for non-game apps. It was the first time in years i actually got bluescreens and hardlocks when trying to watch movies. lol

Ah good thanks for posting this. That reminded me about that. I had to disable video acceleration for flash because it was crashing on me with the past two nvidia drivers.

Maybe these have fixed it.

Care to share then?

On the GeForce GTX 580, for example, SLI users can expect to receive frame rate boosts of up to:

7% in F1 2010,
5% in Crysis 2 with the DirectX 11 Ultra Upgrade enabled,
5% in Lost Planet 2,
And 5% in Mafia 2.
And single-GPU users will receive improvements of up to:

6% in Battlefield 3,
5% in Call Of Duty: Black Ops,
And 5% in StarCraft II.
Likewise, on the GeForce GTX 560, SLI users will receive frame rate boosts of up to:

11% in STALKER: Call of Pripyat,
7% in Dragon Age II,
7% in F1 2010,
7% in Metro 2033,
5% in Battlefield: Bad Company 2,
5% in Crysis 2 with the DirectX 11 Ultra Upgrade enabled,
5% in Just Cause 2,
5% in Lost Planet 2,
And 4% in Mafia 2.
And single-GPU users will receive performance improvements of up to:

11% in Battlefield 3
7% in StarCraft II,
6% in Call Of Duty: Black Ops,
And 4% in Bulletstorm.

The new driver seems to work in BF3. I think we can see the reason why Nvidia was improving there SLI performance. It seems you will need at least 2 gtx 460's in sli overclocked or better to play at these settings.

So the drivers only affect the 580 and 560? Even though the 460 is basically the same as the 560, I will not see performance improvements in BF3?

Looks like ole Betsy is showing her age. New system in 2012 finances permitting.

Heh, I am building a new i5-2500k system to run BF3, but am keeping my GTX 460 until the new cards come out next year... I may pick up another GTX 460 if needed, but really don't want to. :\

E8400. Yeah you're due for an update. I just couldn't justify going from an i7 930 to a 2500k even though it's a healthy improvement. Ill see what is available next year and update then. If those benches are correct then you'll definitely need to pick up a second 460.

Or just turn down the eye candy... I don't need the bloom and all that jazz, as long as I can get somewhat smooth gameplay I'll be happy.

Is this a joke? Check www.nvidia.com.

I tried it and my browser told me that the downloadable file is an executable and could cause harm to my computer. I tried the Nvidia Control Panel "check for updates" and still nothing. Not a big deal really, I'll never play BF3.

As long as it resolves the TDR errors I can tolerate a performance hit. (to an extent)

Reports coming in the nvidia forums is that TDR's are still occurring. I'm not sure what changed in the 280.xx series, but nvidia seems to have borked something.

I'm still sticking with 266.58 until nvidia releases another stable driver set. Maybe by 2012 nvidia will get the drivers straightened out.
