I was going to play some BF2, but found the number of servers was half what it was a few days ago.... then when I tried to connect to a favorite server was told I had an older version...

I hadn't heard anything about a patch, and had to hunt around a little to find any info... and then found out about the 1.41 patch being released...

I don't see an incremental patch, and the file I am downloading is 536MB... typical EA and one more reason I refuse to buy 2142

Link for info and d/l

I saw this earlier this morning. I was wondering why there weren't that many servers.

Silly to have a giant patch like that. An incremental one would have been fine.

Did anyone else notice differences in the 1.4 patch? Did they upgrade the sounds? Like firing inside an aircraft hanger sounds like you're really there due to reverb. When the Supplies explode, med kits and other things are scattered on the ground. Also, some of the placement of objects in maps have changed. Strike at Karkand has some new, large blocks obstructing a ground anti-tank gun.

I downloaded it, but I also think it was really stupid not to release an incremental. There appear to be no client-side fixes in this thing at all.

One of the EA mods said on their forums that the incremental patch wasn't ready.

1.41 incremental Patch ( ??? MB )

A issue has been found with the incremental patch and its release has been delayed, for the time been only the full patch is available.

lol that's funny... especially considering most of the stuff is server side I can't see why they'd have such trouble with an incremental patch.

I never use the incremental. Most issues with all the other patches happened because people used incremental instead of full. While it stupid a incremental doesn't work as well the full patches always work better.

I've never had a problem w/ an incremental... then again I've never tried one with an EA game :p

I don't believe it's ever going to. Does 2142 have it? I haven't played that one yet. I have read in various places that the developers believe it would be an unfair advantage for some players to have wide screen, with wider field of view, while other players don't.

Of course, the real unfair advantage is having to play against fourteen year-olds with lightning fast reflexes who can bunny hop ten times while I am still looking for the "crouch" key, but EA isn't fixing that, are they? Noooo.

Haha no kidding... I've used them in other games but for some reason I've had issues with the incremental patches in Battlefield 2. I love their game, but man, whoever is responsible for coding it needs to be f'ing fired.
