New BestBuy store setup?

Im sure everyone is now familiar with the typical bestbuy setup, cd/dvd/games taking up the bulk of the middle with computers, tv's, car audio, and appliances around the edges.

Well today i went into the old best buy in Sunrise and it had a whole new layout.

Really weird, low angular isles that all converge on the middle, tv section called 'Magnolia' that sold some higher end stuff that the typical BB...

Is this layout coming to all BB's? To be honest, ive grown so accustomed to the old style that it threw me for a loop, but i kinda liked it.

I always use BB and CC to browse, although now that my BB in Sarasota does all Instant Rebates instead of MIR, i actually buy stuff locally on occation...

just wait, they're planning on having a new store that basically tries to incorporate bath and body works, starbucks, current best buys, and a massage parlor.

Just went into my local Best Buy when I purchased my Logitech G5 mouse a week ago, and was surprised to see the layout changed as well. Went from what you explained in the past to exactly what you explained now. Low, angular aisles. I liked the new look, but was fairly shocked when I first walked into the store 🙂.

They did that to the Best Buy's around here back in June-July. Not all of them have the Magnolia section though.

Lucky...no Magnolia's in the midwest yet. It'd be cool to have an audio superseller around here. Still a few years away for us I think.

What happens when said friends WORK at Best Buy?

Then I'm pretty sure they let you shop there and use their employee discount. 🙂

A new BB is opening soon in Eden Prairie, MN. I actually applied and they called back failing to mention a number I was supposed to call them at; like any reasonable person I lost the newspaper ad after I applied. So then I was like screw it, I don?t want a job now anyway.

The outside looks cool, almost like a castle, and it has covered parking in the back (must be something about MN). If they have a diff layout, which I think they will because it's not a rectangular building, I'll be kinda pissed because I know where everything is...not that I actually go there.

BTW their opening sale really blows.

Sounds like they are trying to copy Fry's with that exterior.

best buy is trying to make its stores more targeted to particular demographics in the area.

that and they're trying to keep out people who only buy loss leaders.

there are some special stores designed to boost its image.

they are still dirt to me because of their sleezy practices.

they are trying to expand the concept to other stores, as i've read in, i believe, this week's Time magazine, but it depends on the surrounding population and the typical shopper types.

what were you doing in sunrise, aphex?
