New beginnings - Updated April 2008

I had kinda disappeared off the forums for a while (approx 8 months or so). Lots of things have been going on in my life.

Some of you may remember my ordeal with my botched breast reduction and the numerous surgeries to correct it and what not. Well I took that as a sign to get my life in order and figure out what I want to do with it.

I have posted a pic of me from 2007, and a current pic taken 2 days ago. Now I have been around ATOT long enough to know that if I'm not skin and bones, I'm a fatass. However, I'm damn proud of myself.

I'm still far from my goal weight, but I strive every day to take it 1lb and 1 gym session at a time. It will come if I persevere.

Update: April 4th 2008

I thought I would update this since I originally posted about my progress almost 4 months ago. I am still about 10 lbs from my initial goal weight. I have decided that once I reach this weight I will more than likely be revising it.

I also saw the plastic surgeon that did my previous reduction on tuesday. I was disheartened by the information he provided. I will need several more operations in order to fix the damage caused by the original infection. Also, now that the reconstruction will involve implants, insurance may not cover it and it will be a battle that will have to be fought hard.

After - March 31 2008 (not so clear of a picture) - The roll you see around my midsection isnt fat.. its excess skin. Unfortunately, the only way to tighten that up will be plastic surgery.
After - April 2008 (my boobs look huge here.. lol )

I don't post much here, but figured this is a good enough reason.

Good job. I think the hard work can really be seen, but most importantly felt by you. Keep it up and stay healthy!

yeah, i remember u... and the antibiotic IV drip u were on because of your breast reduction surgery. (gangreen?!)

hope u got $$$ for all that trouble u went thru.

you're looking good... and MUCH younger than i thought u were. guess i was thinking u were middle aged due to your avatar.

or i got your name and some other person w/same avatar mixed up, and she was middle aged.

anyway, welcome back!

you look like my sister in law, but you live in canada and she lives in georgia
and you are someone else

Wasn't gangreen, but might as well have been. I had 2 reconstructive surgeries so far... with more to come. It's now been established that I will have to have implants! hahaha. Oh the irony. I didnt get jack all, mostly because it was a risk factor that i signed off on.

I just turned 30 in november, so I'm not quite middle aged yet 🙂

It was being on the verge of 30 that got me motivated to fix myself 🙂

congrats TwinkleToes! i accidentally slept from 2 - 8:30 PM today so I'm gonna go hit the treadmill right now. people like you are an inspiration. keep up the good work.

Wow what an amazing change! What has been your method? Just diet and exercise? Any specific programs. Seems like anyone else struggling with weight issues should get some pointers from you. keep up the good work!

Congrats, what an incredible change 🙂

Hopefully it's a permanent lifestyle change that will stick with you.

Are we going to see you around here more often?

I do not want to go back to where I was. EVER

I hope I will be around more 🙂

welcome back! You look mighty fine! Keep up the hard work! I hope the docs and fix what they did without putting you through too much more of an ordeal...

I have made quite drastic changes in my life.

I eat 6 times a day, as opposed to 1-2 times. I am eating 70% protein, 25% veggies, 5% starch. I make sure that i get atleast 70g of protein a day. Carbs are always on the bottom of the list.

I make sure that none of the food i intake has more than 2g of sugar per item (unless it's naturally occuring) and no more than 10g of fat per MEAL. With a limit of 35g of fat a day.

I can have juice, as long as its 100% juice and no more than 6oz a day.

I don't pay attention to caloric intake because if I'm eating within the guidelines my nutritionist provided, I wouldnt ever eat high caloried foods.

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week.. mostly cardio at first... and then slowly integrated weight training. I am now on the toning stage.
