This is where diplomacy comes in. And, sadly, this administration lacks any. Well, Colin Powell could have done great things but the hawks and ideologues pretty much snuffed him out.
Well said

I'm sure Colin Powell would have been able to reverse 2000+ years of hatred in the Muslim community. I mean, there has pretty much never been any hatred of violence in the past 2000 years in the Middle East.. Pretty much all of it started when Bush took office. Up until then, the Middle East lived in peace with itself and its neighbors.

What kind of hatred, specifically, was there in the Middle East for the past 2000+ years?

he is doesn't seem to be too well informed. the muslim religion is not 2000 years old. i think he might have been bush's study partner. ;)

first of all, muslim is not a relgion. a muslim is a person who follows the teachings of islam, the religion. and you're right, it isnt 2000yrs old. it's about 1400 yrs old

He probably wasn't really talking only about the Middle East, but also of the rest of the world.

The world has hated us before. To that, I say screw them. It's mostly just a trend, because really without America this world wouldn't be as good as it is today. Yes we make mistakes, every country does, but if any Frenchman hates America after we liberated their nation in WWII, or any German after we rebuilt their country after the war, or any Englishman after we saved them in WWI, well then they can kiss my ass.

I really don't like my government much. But I do know it's better than most alternatives, and I do know some countries have no right to resent us as much as they do today. I am happy to have a president who doesn't bow down to the international communties often ridiculous requests of us, and does what he thinks is best for THIS country and its ideals.

I hate Bush, but not because of his dealings with other countries.

The beginning of a new cold war.

Russia is a highly liberal country now. That means one thing..

They are doomed to fail.

Problem solves itself.;)

Bush, the great divider in the US...but the great uniter for the rest of the world.

Unfortunantly, this is true, and it sucks, both for you and me.

Working together, EU and the US could have accomplished much, much more.

However, i hope that the future can bring the EU and the US closer together instead of further apart, Russia would follow that lead, so would most of the rest of the world.

Working together, EU interests and the US money could have accomplished much, much more for Eu.

There, fixed that for you.

True, every country with a HUGE growing deficiet (sp?) is going to have to pay for it.

Usually, huge government and liberal spending causes that, which is exactly what is happening in the US, hmmmmm.

To take care of it, you have to do two things, minimize government spending (no more meaningless wars) and raise taxes without giving anything back.

You see, a deficiet isn't just money you owe, if you have ever had a credit, you know you have to pay it back sooner or later, with intrest, so this is the situation your entire country is in, overspended their visa with a few hundred trillions.

With the current situation, you couldn't join the EU if you wanted to, you are not as economically stable as say... Poland, Slovenia, Lithuania and others.

who cares, these so called "friendships/alliances" always end up with the US doing most of the work.

this "winning the hearts and minds" of people is an impossible task. Seriously who believes this will happen in iraq or other countries? fear and money will keep people in check.

Self reliance
