new BCS system = wtf???

"In that format, the top-ranked teams after the four major bowls would advance to the national title game."

That seems ok to me.

"In the five-bowl format to be used next season, the championship game matchup is set after the regular season. No teams advance from the first four games, but it does create the framework for a plus-one."

they are adding 1 more game, but it's not a true "plus 1" -- so in effect they are just putting more money into the bowls and making the playoff argument even harder.

*sigh*

no, i actually like idea. its the best thing without a playoff system. it will prevent more than 2 teams from going undefeated all year.

no, it won't.

LOL - they are saying the 5th game adds the "framework" for a plus 1 system.

No, it doesn't. Because if you go to a 5th game that means there are two more teams that get a BCS bowl bid. If you go from that to a plus-1 system then two teams will have to get left out which is going to make for many unhappy people.

say we run into a situation with 4 undefeated teams, after they play each other in the bowls, that would limit the number of undefeated teams for the championship game, right?

the 4 teams that play in the 4 bowl games don't send the winners to the championshpip game. essentially there are 5 bcs games instead of 4. basically we have 4 at large teams instead of just 2. it doesn't help the situation next year.

ah ok, i misunderstood. then that's completely worthless.

Ohhh, nvm.

Hammer - Your sig should be 2006 champs 😉 oh and Big 12 had how many good teams this year compared to the Big Ten?.......but i agree with the Pac10 comment.

The BCS is a mess.
This addition of a 5th game doesn't make any sense, unless you're a sponsor/advertiser.
