Did I miss something? They hammered in Batman does not kill really hard in the Nolan films. Now he's going against Superman and looks like he wants blood if he's using that.

Those aren't gatling guns. Gatlings have multiple barrels.

Coincidentally the first rapid fire gun I know of was a gatling gun with a hand-crank to work the action and turn the barrels. As I recall the ammunition was gravity fed with ammunition fed to the weapon from a magazine placed at the top

Possibly the most admired or well known Gatling Gun

it fires 30mm ammunition whereas most fighter planes afaik use gatling guns that fire 20mm ammunition.

Nolan took Batman to a whole new level, this seems to be going back to the comic books.

At first I was like "That's retarded". Upon reflection I realize that the director and set designer are just desperately trying to stay one step ahead of the stuff actual cops are using.
