new batch e8600 wolfdale

Hello there! i am new @ this forum. I live in Germany and my english is not the best so plz be a little patient if i dont understand everything right away.

i ordered a second e8600 last week as i was not pleased with my two weeks older e8600 cpu with the batch Q820A602. the old cpu had tempertures of max 50° C on load @ 4,5 GHZ but needed way to much core voltage to stay at least 2h stable ( i think it was 1.46 vcore on load).

now i have the new cpu with the batch number Q822A825 package date is 09.02.08. i did not find anything about this batch in the net.

in core temp vid is 1.25v (same as my old one).

i am just beginning testing and the cpu is running with 1.184v on load @ 4GHZ @ 37-39° C core temp in my first test. :Q

yes it is e0 stepping intel malaysia. i bought it from alternate.de

See how many volts it takes for it to be 4.5GHz P95 Small FTT stable. And what board are you running it on?

i am running it on gigabyte x48T dq6 with kingston DDR3 1800 memroy kit 2gb.

i am testing now p95 Small FTT @450 FSB 4500MHZ with 1.344 Vcore... everything green yet. Running about 10 minutes. I am not experienced with overclocking so i dont know if stability issues that may occur depend on core failure or the memory or the board.

Just sopped error core 2 with final result was 1503fb40, expected: f601eb92

hardware failure... should i give more vcore?

12k p95 FTT test completed with 1.4 vcore in bios and 1.36 under load in cpu-Z

@450 fsb 4.5 ghz max Temp 51 under 100% load...

which is the real vcore? should i try to rise fsb and run lower multi for better performance? any hints appreciated!

The CPU-Z is closer to the "real" V-Core. As the processor draws more current, the voltage dips, which is why the voltage is lower under load. If it passes the small FTT test, I would suggest running a blend test overnight as well. The Small FTT is really a heat test, as it tends to heat up the processor better than most tests. Large FTT will test other portions of the processor for stability than just Small FTT.

So, was it a direct replacement. NO other changes, no bios updates???

I updated my bios from a 1013 to a 1202 with the P5K - E (8400 machine) and the load voltage went up from 1.1160v 28* idle to 1.2000v 30* idle at 69F ambient temps
