New balance shoes.

Went shoe shopping yesterday.
Is it me or are they getting more plasticky every day?
I keep buying the 80x series.
803 was good, then 804 was still OK (maybe even better), 805 had more plastic, and 806 looks like it's made of plastic?
It's very dissappointing. I had an upgrade path mapped out throught the 80x series, but couldn't bring myself to buy these rubbermaid shoes.
I ended up buying the 705's, which BTW are just modified 804's. Identical outsole, and only a little more plasticky.
My other peeve with NB is that the inside material tears too easily in the back. And what's up with terrible shoe laces on new shoes?
I am kind of stuck with NB because my feet are wide, and NB is about the only one who bothers to make wide size shoes that look descent.
I hope Nike and Adidas are paying attention

I support NB because they are a company that really trying to keep their plants in the US. They are trying not send jobs overseas where the labor is cheaper. I believe in supporting them just for that reason.

You are right about wide shoes. NB is pretty much your only choice 🙁

I had a pair of NB's they fell apart within a few months of normal use.

Think I'll stick with Nike and Adidas.

From my experience as a cross country runner you can't beat NB for durability....

I would kill nikes and reeboks in a matter of two months and NB would stick around for about 5 months.

I can't comment on Adidas because I could never find a pair that fit me correctly.

Well, the inside back gets torn up in about a monht for me, but I keep wearing them, because they seem to stay comfy even after that. Aside from that, they seem to stay together for years, at least for me. But the all terrain NB's are a bit more rugged. Actually I had bad experience with Adidas falling apart.

I never kept a pair of shoes for longer than 2 months anyway. I could put about 800 miles on a pair of shoes and that took about 2 months to do. Any more than that and I started getting injuries.

i pretty much stick to skechers...i got the skifeet (size 12's long and skinny)...I work in retail so I am on my feet usually at least 12 hours a day...skechers last me about a year usually vs. the others that last maybe 6 months...plus the soles are nice and chunky so i can kick people who annoy me and it hurts like heck

You must have run a lot because I would run 8 miles a day 5 days a week. I can't imagine averaging 13 miles a day 7 days a week unless you are training for a marathon.

Holy crap that is a lot of running. Were you training for anything in particular? For cross country races(5k in high school) there wasn't much point in running more than 8 miles.

NB is the only thing I buy also because my feet are wide.

I need to get out and get some black ones, they don't show the dirt from wearing them to work.

If you want wide, check out Adidas or Saucony.

[edit]Mizuno too.

i dunno, my experience with adidas is that they make the skinniest shoes out of the major brands

i second the NB. definately durable. but from my own experience, nikes last as well. although i run the x-country season with NB. track gives nike a beating, but they seem to last out.

Always buy NewBallance. I get them from newballance web express. Just got a pair of 805's on a closeout sale...
