ok heres the thing......my dads girlfriend had her baby yesterday (right on Friday the 13th right?). well they had to immediately airlift her to phoenix, az. (they are in kingman area). Her blood was clotting. Apparently they had to transfuse her antibodies or something....i dunno. Im really scared she wont make it.

BABY INFO:

Surely they must know whats wrong with her. See if you can find the name of the condition she has and do some more research.

She will probably be fine though. I think it has to do with the rh factor/conflicting blood types between mother and baby.

ive been talking with my aunt and apparently they just need to give her new antibodies. when dawna was pregnant, the baby was rejecting her blood. my dad and her were supposed to go to phoenix to have her (dawna) checked out.....but i dont think they made it down (for those of u curious as to why i dont talk to my dad about it........we arent on speaking terms at the moment.)

Yeah its rh blood incompatibility. The mother and baby have opposite rh types. 100 years ago, the baby might not have such a great chance but assuming the baby is in a decently developed country(US?), i have a good feeling the baby will pull through.

I was 2 months early. Weighed less than 2 lbs. I made it okay. I pray she does too.

Well, you did end up crazy enought to become a Lifer on AT. 😛

Hope she makes it through!

🙁 hope she is all right

I read it 3 times before I saw "sister" and not sitter.

the baby will probably be fine, though....

Luckily, my wife and I never had this problem since we are both O+.

You would be correct. Here's hoping that someone you may or may not care about pulls though. 😉

Me too, I thought this was going to be a Calvin vs. Rosalyn type thread.

Don't worry and pray. Doctors said I wouldn't make it too but here I am - 21 and still going strong. I pray that she sails through this - and does so in style.

The Friday the 13th stuff is just stupid. Did they take her to Phoenix Childrens? If so, then she's in the best hands she could be in. My youngest son spent a week & ½ there a few years ago. Best hospital I've ever seen.

5lbs is pretty tiny. Is she a premie? Hope she pulls through. Nobody likes to see a baby die. Too sad, gotta leave this thread now.

she was about 2-3 weeks early.....the mom had false labor a week ago and went to her doctor who told her to go to the ER cuz the baby had no movement. needless to say, its been a stressful week and a half....

Not sure what hospital they took her to. Prolly Phoenix Childrens though if its the best.

And for those of you who asked......I was very unhappy about this pregnancy at first. Only because my dad flat out told me that most of his life insurance (should he die) will go to Ericca. Stupid and selfish of me i KNOW, but at the time it seemed like a valid and important reason. In my mind....50/50 is fair, but thats all water under that bridge now. I just hope she makes it okay.

I do find it ironic that this all happened on friday the 13th though...

Do you know what irony is? What's so special about friday the 13th that seperates it from, say, Monday the 2nd or Thursday the 21st....it's just a day.

I see your point. Odd is definitely better than ironic.

Hope the little tyke does well.
