NO MORE SM 3.0 DISCUSSION! IT's DRIVING ME INSANE!

Anyways, it would beobvious that ATI would include SM 3.0 in their nex gen cards.

Why would they put in SM3?? Its useless and offers no benefits over SM2.

Anything that can be done in SM2 can be done in SM3, with a few more passes.

And theres practically no games out there that use SM3, and esp not to any real extent.. it I think ATI had it right with the 9700 Pro, why change things??

WTF do you all want to live in the past stoneage for. ?????

If ATI are giving you P.S 3.0 accept and be happy, some games do use it and you cant fully do the same on lessser P.S when P.S 3.0 is fully used, which it will be now as both major players have it, it will be developed more.

What of games like splinter Cell 3 CT where you were forced to use 1.0 or 3.0 ?.

BTW i am a Nvidia user only but i test new ATI's, its good now both get P.S 3.0 to let games move on and develope fully.

I see no reason for anyone to complain, i bet you would complain more if it wasnt P.S 3.0 and WTF has a 9700 pro got to do with june 2005, its a antique.

those stacked up windows do look pretty cool - OSX Tiger should have done that...

As others have already said, SM3.0 support in R520 was pretty much a foregone conclusion, even if ATI had never even announced that they would.

They did say they were going to use it this gen. They told us that before launching the X800 line.

I just think its a waste of R&D to implement SM3. No reason for it, hardly any games for it (less than 1%) and it offers no visual benefits over SM2. Just takes more passes.

Isnt the answer clear? SM3 is for those foolish enough to pay for it.

Wasnt ATI marketing pushing something like Smartshader 3.1 or 3.0+ for next gen as if it will be something special?

I was against SM3 when Nvidia put it out there, and I was against SM3 when Microsoft endorsed it in DirectX 9C, and now I'm against it when ATI puts it in their hardware.

Because I'm no fanboy and only a fanboy would be against MS and Nvidia supporting SM3.

So us ATI fanboys need to stick together and see this thing through.

We must stand against this ignorant bastards who supported SM3 when NV/MS supported it.
I do not know where all my loyal supports have gone, I mean forums across the net were saying how useless SM3 is and it still is!

Dont buy into it!

We're not really the most disgusting, revolting fanboyistic corporate bitches to grace forums, we just truley belive SM3 is a waste of time.

As stated, SM2 can do everything SM3 can, just with more passes.

YES, there IS a visual difference between shader model 2.0 and shader model 3.0 which lies within vertex shader 3.0. please research it before you post misinformation over and over.

I just hope 1.32 will remove the CD/DVD check like the 64 bit version did.

They look cool the first 30 seconds, until you realise it's gonna be annoying as hell looking at windows from an angle. So instead of developing something useful, like a decent built in cd/dvd burning app in windoze, they make me waste my money on this. And it's gonna require a good 3d card just to run windoze? Who comes up with these dumb ideas?

It offers dynamic branching and displacement mapping. All IQ enhancing features.
